I was in the kitchen with my mom and Maddy having dinner. My mom found out I skipped school so she was now giving me a lecture that I paid no attention to. "I don't think that boy is a good influence on you. Quiero que dejes de hablar con él." My mom said taking a bite out of the rice.

translation: I want you to stop talking to him.

Maddy shrugged her shoulders at me after I tried to motion for her to help me. "Madre please. He didn't do anything. It was all me." I said trying to reason with her. Ashtray was the one real friend I made in this shitty ass town.

"Alex. What I said is final. That boy is trouble." She said with a warning tone.

"Stop saying 'that boy'. His name is Ashtray. And he's not a bad influence mama." I said. I stood up and slammed my hands down on the table. Maddy was going to speak when mom interrupted her.

"¡Alex siéntate ahora! Estoy poniendo el pie en lo que dije. ¡Él no es más que un problema!" My mom spoke in an angry tone. I groaned and ran up the stairs into my room. I slammed the door shut and laid in my bed.

translation: Alex sit down now! I'm putting my foot down in what I said. He is nothing but trouble!

I heard a knock on my door. "Go away." I yelled. I was not in the mood for talking. I part my hair and put a hoodie on and sunk down into my bed. I heard the door creak open. I was about to say something but then I saw Maddy. She came and laid down next to me. "I'm sorry." Was all that came out of her mouth. I sighed and hugged her side. "It's okay. It's not your fault." I said still bummed about what happened.

"But she does want what's best for you." Maddy says trying to soothe me. I scoff at what she said. "So, her taking away my one real friend from here is trying to do what is best for me?"

"Your right. I tried to reason with her down there but nope." She says with a little sigh at the end. I roll my eyes and face my back towards Maddy. "I kinda want to be alone right now." I say hugging my pillow. She doesn't say anything. She just walks out my room closing the door behind her.

I was about to drift off to sleep when I heard a knock on my window. My eyes shot open. I got out of bed walking to the window. I opened the curtains and seen Ashtray. I got scared so I jumped back. My heart was racing. I opened the window and stuck my head out. "What are you doing here Ash?" I say rubbing my eyes.

"Just wanted to see if you wanted to go on a little adventure?" He says with a grin. I gave a tight-lipped smile at him and shake my head 'no.' He tilts his head at me giving me a confused look.

I walk back to my bed and sit on the edge of it. He climbs in the window and walks towards me. "I thought you were always up for 'Adventures.'?

"My mom said I can't see you anymore." I say blankly. I look up at him for his reaction. He was confused. "She found out I skipped and thought you were a bad influence on me I guess."

"What about school?" He says sitting next to me. I hadn't really thought about that.

"I mean since when did you listen to what your mom or anyone else said?" He says nudging me with his elbow. I give a slight smile and nod my head a little. "Alright but she can't know we are still hanging out. Okay?" I speak. He smiles and nods his head. I stick out my pinky finger and hold it in front of him. He raises an eyebrow at me. "Just do it." I say rolling my eyes.

"So bossy." He mumbles. He wraps his pinky around mine then kisses his thumb. As I do the same. "The thumb part just seals it." He says with a shrug of his shoulders and climbing out my window. I walk behind him so I can close the window after. We tell each other goodbye before I close the window.

After I closed the window, my door opened. "Who were you talking to?" My mom said poking her head in my room. "No one." I say with an attitude.
