"I was told you are a giantess by my friends," Mathew said, looking up at the girl standing before him.
She appeared to be around his height - no taller than 5'5" with a petite, slender build. Her long, chestnut brown hair cascaded over her shoulders in loose waves. She had fair, unblemished skin and large, almond-shaped eyes the colour of rich milk chocolate. Her rosebud lips curved into a sly smile.
"I'm neither a human nor a giantess," she replied, her voice light and melodic. "I'm human-sized and Rose is the giantess that everyone sees and thinks is me." She let out a small laugh. "I kinda used Rose's image to gain popularity."
Mathew furrowed his brow in confusion. "That doesn't make any sense. Plus, don't you think I'll tell people about this?"
The girl crossed her arms. "First, we are to become roommates. Second, if you tell anyone - if you say anything - Rose is here to deal with you." Her lips spread into another unsettling smile.
Mathew felt a shiver run down his spine but tried not to let his apprehension show. "I have a question," he began, watching the petite girl carefully. "How does Rose play as you? Can't anyone distinguish between Rose and you?"
The girl waved a dismissive hand. "It's too complicated and I can't explain it to you."
Mathew wasn't ready to let it go. This strange living arrangement was raising far too many questions. "You are as small as I am compared to them," he continued, gesturing with his hands. "So how did you manage to, you know, befriend Rose? And since you are neither a human nor a giantess like you said, what are you then?"
The girl fixed him with an intense stare. "I'll tell you at the right time," she said simply.
Mathew felt his frustration growing but fought to keep his voice even. "So when are we going to your dorm? Your home?"
"Right now!" the girl announced cheerfully, her mood shifting in an instant. She turned towards the classroom door. "Hey Rose!" she shouted suddenly into a small walkie talkie she produced from her pocket. "We are ready to go now!"
Moments later, the enormous frame of Rose filled the classroom doorway. Without a word, she reached down and wrapped her fingers around Mathew's torso. Before he could react, he was whisked into the air and deposited in her front shirt pocket. He caught a glimpse of the petite girl - who had introduced herself as Jasmine - seated comfortably on Rose's shoulder, an amused smile playing on her lips.
As Rose began to walk, transporting both humans with ease, Mathew clung to the fabric encircling him to avoid sliding around. Rose took long strides, each footfall causing vibrations that shook through Mathew's body. He shifted around to face upward, watching the giantess's angular chin and full lips as she spoke.
"Why didn't you tell him?" Rose questioned. Though muffled, Mathew could distinguish her gravelly but feminine voice.
He glanced over at Jasmine's tiny form perched on the giantess's shoulder. She gave an exaggerated shrug. "I want him to think we are equal or he's above me," she responded casually. "Then..."
Her voice trailed off but Mathew's interest was piqued. What was she planning? He strained to listen to their exchange.
"Did he believe it?" asked Rose.
Jasmine nodded, the sunlight catching her glossy hair. "I think he did."
"He'll be shocked when he finds out the truth," remarked Rose. Mathew felt his chest tighten anxiously.
Growing bolder, Mathew called up to the duo. "Hey, what secret are you girls talking about?"
Jasmine leaned over the side of Rose's shoulder, peering down at the tiny human enclosed in her friend's pocket. "Who asked you to talk?" she snapped.
