-vocabulary-
linja- (something long and flexible)
akesi- reptile
lete- raw, uncooked
So far, we've looked at all the sentences in a very "A=B" way. For example, "jan pona" has always been translated as "good person" and "jan ike" as "bad person".
However, the basis of Toki Pona's minimal vocabulary (120 official words, and 17 non-official, along with several others, all of which will be taught) is to create new concepts by combining words.
Therefore, "jan pona" could be translated as "friend", and "jan ike" as "enemy".
Try translating this into one word:
akesi linja
jan pali
