also rip martin u were rlly hot 🥰A cold breeze made you shiver as you ran the final few steps to the manor. It was a chilly evening and you knew it was going to snow, but you kinda felt like it would be more then just snow. You quickly made your way up the final steps and opened the door, quickly announcing your arrival to no one in particular. You put away your coat and shoes and quickly ran to the fireplace in the living room.
You were greeted with Jack quietly sketching something in his book. You placed your hand on his head as a kind of greeting. You two had established a comfortable relationship so now you announced your arrival by placing your hand on his head and ruffling his hair. That way he always knew it was you.
He looked up at you and you noticed his mask shift a little, meaning he was most likely smiling. You gave him a small smile back and glanced down at his notebook. "Whatcha drawing buddy?" You asked and he turned the page towards you. "Just some flowers. I was reading a book about plants and how they reproduce and I noticed some flowers I knew so now I'm drawing them." He explained.
You quietly listened as you scanned the pages he'd drawn, lazily flipping to the next one once you were done looking at the previous. You were interested in his spiel so you sat down besides him and let him explain about plants, photosynthesis and other things. You never really understood when your teachers told you about this stuff in high school but when a teenager, someone who's definitely younger then your science teacher, talks about it you somehow understand it. Maybe you just had a bad teacher.
You continued to listen to him talk and barely noticed when Merle and Nick walked into the room. You only noticed them when Merle cleared his throat. You turned to face him and waved. Jack stopped talking and you knew he was embarrassed that Merle caught him talking about flowers.
Merle seemed to notice but didn't comment on it. "Listen, theres a snowstorm coming along and the power usually goes off in a storm. So we're all gonna stay in this room since well, this is the only room with a fireplace that works. Also, Akram wanted me to ask you if you wanted hot chocolate." He said calmly while Nick sat down on the floor with his back against the wall, his legs neatly crossed. It was like that man didn't even notice the couch. Maybe he didn't want to notice it.
You and Jack both said yes to Merle, so he took his leave and headed for the kitchen.
In the next few minutes more members of the family made their way into the small living room, taking a seat on one of the couches. They however left the seat besides you empty, because they knew Martin was coming soon.
Then the hot chocolate and the food came, and everyone was allowed to touch their drink because Akram accidentally made way too much so you could get as many refills as you wanted, but no one dared touch the food until Martin showed up.
Martin however, didn't show up for a while. You were growing worried. The power had already gone out, so now you were in the room with the family, candles had been lit and the fire in the fireplace was cracking quietly. Everyone was either chatting quietly with each other or reading. Jack had fallen asleep on your shoulder, and you didn't want to move. But you had to find where Martin was. He wasn't in the basement, you knew that. But where could he be then?
You slowly stood up after carefully laying Jack down on the couch. Jimi gave you a knowing look and wiggled his eyebrows, knowing you were looking for Martin. You rolled your eyes at him before grabbing a candleholder and walking out of the room, quietly making your way further into the manor.
You looked almost everywhere you could, the library, the study, the bathroom, Martins room, even the basement, even though you already knew he wasn't there. You just had to be sure. You were getting very cold and you were close to returning back without him until you heard some shuffling behind you. You quickly turned around to be greeted with Martin.
"Where have you been?"
"Where have you been?"You both stared at each other before you quietly laughed. "I'm sorry. I'll go first. I was waiting for you in the living room but you never showed up so I went to go look for you. Where have you been?" You asked as you walked over to him. You set the candle on the shelf besides you both and embraced him. He ran his fingers through your hair and let out a soft hum.
"Really? I was looking for you was well. I came into the living room and didn't see you. You most likely went to look for me right before I came in." He said calmly and you let out a chuckle. You let him hold you for a little while longer until he spoke up.
"Let's go back. It's getting quite cold and you don't seem to be able to handle it as well as I can. You're shivering like a leaf." He said and you didn't object. You grabbed the candleholder and you both made your way back to the living room where everyone was sitting. Jack had woken up and began to profusely apologise for falling asleep on you. You patted his shoulder and reassure him it was alright.
You sat down with Martin besides you and you both grabbed your drinks. "So, I've never really tried this "hot chocolate". Is it really that interesting as you say it is?" He asked. You nodded and he raised and eyebrow before lifting his mask up to his nose and carefully taking a sip. You smiled when he let out a hum of approval.
Soon, everyone had fallen asleep except you and Martin. You had laid your head on his shoulder and were close to falling asleep before he quietly spoke up.
"You know, I always used to think snowstorms were such a nuisance. But now, I don't think they're all that bad."
You raised you head to look at him.
"How come?"
"Well, these snowstorms seem to be the only thing that brings us all together. No arguments, no nothing. Just everyone talking to each other like friends. Like family. I never see anyone in this room this calm unless there's a storm and they're staying in this room, even if they're just sleeping on some old couches on top of one another. They look.. at peace.."
He paused, before continuing.
"And if snowstorms are the things that will bring all of us together, I don't have anything against them."
You smiled at this, and raised you head far enough to look him in the eyes and responded in a whisper; "I never realised you were this much of a sweetie. I like this side of you." You teases as you lifted his mask up to his lips and kissed him softly. You felt him smile against your lips.
"I'm glad you're enjoying yourself though. I know how much you care about them." You said and carefully stroked your fingers against his shoulder. He sighed in content and nodded. "Yes, I suppose you are correct." He responded, and slowly took your hand in his, kissing it softly.
You smiled and laid your head back down on his chest.
"Get some rest. I know you're tired."
"Okay, I will. Thank you."
"Of course. Sleep well."
"You too."
You couldn't wait for the next snowstorm.
