Other Pov-

"Just come out with your hands up... we can figure out a way to solve this together-"

"You are doing it again, Detective Mendes." I laughed, "Do you honestly think i'm that stupid to believe you will help me?" I whispered into the phone.

"Let's not forget what happened last time, Jauregui." Detective Mendes snapped back.

"Ouch." I shook my head, knowing he could see me through the stores windows.

Here we are again, they have me cornered, they make one dumb move, I run, and it's a repeat. All I have to do now is wait until I see the perfect chance to run, although I would love to see Mendes perfect red blood on my knife.

"Aren't you tired of the killing? You are taking innocent lives awa-" And that's where I cut him off.

"I am sick of hearing these things about innocence! No one is innocent, everyone has a dark secret buried in them... and they deserve to be punished. I'm doing what you and your men won't do. And sooner or later, i'll get to you too." I hung up the phone, moving towards the back of the store.

I hear some movement right outside the front of the empty store I am in, well, three other dead bodies are in here too. I'll be surprised that Mendes found me this quick. No one expects a serial killer to be near a nice beach store.

They shut down the whole area, so in a few moments, they'll start shooting. Luckily, I did some research on this tiny clothing store before I planned my day. And if i'm not mistaken, their should be a back exit that leads to an alley. Hopefully, Mendes and his men are stupid enough to not notice it.

One,

Two,

Now.

The bullets go off, and I take that as my cue to run towards the back. I exit the back door and notice I was right about the alley, so I start making a run towards the end of the road.

"Check the back! The doors open- Send the cars towards the alley. Go quickly!"

"Shit." I mutter to myself.

By now i'm running quickly when I hear the cop siren behind me, I make a jump towards an abandon car and hide behind it while the cops sloppily shoot their weapons towards it.

I'm almost close to my car, its either now or never. I looked back towards the cop car and grab one of my smoke grenades.

"I'll see you soon, Mendes!" I got up from the ground, and no longer hiding behind the rusty car.

I'm standing in front of the cop cars, looking at each and one of them but my main focus was on Mendes and his reaction as he saw my signature grenade in my hand.

"Fire!" He was banging on his car hood, screaming to the cops to shoot all their bullets at me.

I threw my smoke grenade towards them and made a run for it, feeling the bullets come my way. I was running towards my car, the loud banging noise of the bullets hitting the walls and cars around me.

I let legs carry away when I began hearing the cop cars starting their engines, letting me know that the smoke is about to clear up-

What the fuck.

There was a girl- I thought they closed this whole block down. What was a girl doing around here? She looked scared, and there was blood- There was blood on her arm, in her hand.

Did she get shot?

Jesus christ-

I ran faster towards the women in front of my eyes, when I finally got a hold of her, she looked like she woke up.

"Run, run run run." That's all I managed to say as I grabbed ahold of her arm, forcing her to run with me. I couldn't even get a good look at her but she was smaller than me.

I needed to get her out of here, Mendes has his men shooting their guns like nothing. The smoke still hasn't cleared up and the bullets haven't stopped.

I made sure she was in front of me as we ran, I didn't want her getting hurt. This would be my fault, I don't even know her. She was already bleeding, maybe she did get shot. She was in shocked when I grabbed her.

We took a sharp turn at the corner, I pressed her against the wall. Pushing myself on her, covering her mouth with my hand. She looked terrified now, her deep brown eyes filled with fear. I felt guilty.

"Shh, everything's gonna be okay." I whispered but it only caused her eyes to start tearing up, and her breathing got heavy.

I heard the cop car sirens get closer and closer, eventually the cars stopped.

A car door opened, and footsteps got near. I pressed my hand harder on this girls mouth, her whimpering getting quieter. I was afraid to hurt her, so I just put my finger on my lips, signaling her to try to calm down so I released my hand from her mouth.

"JAUREGUI!" Mendes yelled at the top of his lungs, and I almost laughed. "SHOW YOURSELF!" Silence. "You'll pay for what you did..."

"Let's go, she's not here... we'll get her next time." Another officer said, and they walked back.

"Shit. How the hell did we lose her again!" Mendes shouted. Silence. "Go around and don't let anyone out of this town. She couldn't have gotten far. Now!" Mendes voice echoed through the alley.

The car doors shut closed and they started backing up. Not coming our direction, I let out a sigh of relief. I looked over the wall and waited till they were out of sight.

"What the hell just happened..." I heard the girl under me whisper.

I took this time to look over at her, inspect where the blood was coming from. I took a look at her hand first, "Your bleeding, it's not from a bullet though." I stated, looking more closely at her hand.

I felt her eyes burn into me, I was too scared to look back at her so I kept my distance. I backed away for a bit, waiting for her to yell at me.

"I cut it with glass." She said, not stuttering, she was more relaxed now. "Are you okay? There's blood on your-" She reached towards my face and I grabbed her arm.

I didn't hold it too tight, but just enough for her to know not to reach at me again. When she started to look like she was in pain, I let go.

"You need to wrap it up and clean the wounds before it gets infected." I wanted to walk away then but my legs forgot how to move.

"Okay.." That's all she said.

I wanted to hear more from her, her voice was sweet. It wasn't full with fear, or hatred. I haven't heard a voice like hers in years.

"You be careful out there." Was all I managed to say right there until I felt bold, "There's a killer on the lose."

She smiled, "And will you be okay?" She tilted her head at me. Her eyes sparkling with something in her, it made my heart warm up.

"Depends on what you tell him over there." I chuckled as I signaled over towards the officer at the corner, his back facing us.

"You should get going then." She smiled.

All I did was nod as I took a look at her once more, burning her image in my head. I left once I heard a walkie talkie go off, meaning that the officer had finally spotted us.

"Scream."
