Camilas Pov-

"Scream."

She pressed a knife in my hand, the same hand that the glass cut. Once I felt the material hit my hand, I yelled. But it took me a moment to realize that she just placed it on my hand, not stab me. Once I opened my eyes, she was gone.

"Ma'am, ma'am? Are you okay?" A deep voice asked me, I turned over at him and stared blankly.

He said some words into his walkie talkie and in a moment, cop cars were passing us. A ambulance stopping, and medics running towards me.

"That's a pretty bad cut there, we should get you in the emergency room-" Another officer cut the medic off.

"We need to ask you a few questions-" The same medic that was looking at my arm stopped the officer.

"After she gets checked into the hospital. Let's go." The tall good-looking medic motioned to his ambulance, giving me a hand getting into the back.

I didn't say a word the whole ride.

I needed Stitch, he left me before I ran into trouble. He probably sensed it, I should've waited for him and now he's out there alone.

I wasn't exactly sure what happened 10 minutes ago, everything was fast.

One second I was walking, then I was running and hearing gun shots, then a incredibly strong beautiful green-eyed girl was being pressed up on me, and there was tension... I hope she felt it too. I know that she's not good news though, it wasn't too hard to put the pieces together.

She was different though, i've met and seen a bunch of serial killers throughout my life and she was different. She was soft, sensitive, I felt her light touch around me, like she was afraid of hurting me. It almost felt like she cared but it couldn't be, no serial killer cares. I know better, it was nothing. You are lucky to be alive right now Camila, stop thinking like that.

"Who is she?" I asked the medic, who was cleaning the wound as we sat in the back of the ambulance. "The girl."

"Lauren Jauregui, most wanted serial killer in the country- mainly California and Florida. You are lucky she just cut you, she never lets anyone get that close to her without killing them.." And he continued to talk but my mind went somewhere else.

'She never lets anyone get that close to her without killing them'

Then why did she let me live?

Later that day-

I woke up to the arguing of my friends, except their voices were faded out a bit. My head was dizzy as I pushed myself up, making myself more comfortable on the bed. The room was quiet, I don't remember going to sleep.

I think I got too overwhelmed with the questions they were asking me, I told them to come back when I felt better. Although I wasn't going to tell those detectives anything. I know it's weird, but I wanted to keep the moment Lauren and I had to myself.

The arguing stopped, and the door opened.

I was greeted by Dinah and Normani, they immediately ran towards me and wrapped me up in their warm embrace. I hugged them back, missing them so much. If it wasn't Lauren who I ran into, or if it was some other horrible serial killer, I wouldn't be here right now.

"I'm so so sorry, Mila.. this is my fault. I promise you, I will start washing Stitch's teeth. I'm sorry, i'm sorry... please forgive me." Normanis voice was heartbreaking to hear, her blaming herself for this is not how I want her to feel.

"Mani... it's not your fault. I should've been more calmed, my anger issues are at fault. Don't blame yourself. It was just a small cut, luckily I wasn't brutally murdered." I laughed but their expressions were serious. "Too early?"

"I'm glad you are okay Mila, we should get home as soon- Wait, where is Stitch?" Dinah and Normani noticed I was alone and the heartache hit me.

"I lost him on my walk, before I ran into-" And I was cut off by a familiar deep voice.

"Lauren Jauregui." The man, detective Mendes, I think was his name.

"Who are you?" Normani asked, standing besides me near Dinah.

"I'm the lead detective on the Lauren Jauregui case, and Camila is a witness to a crime scene. She was also spotted with the kille-" And that's where I cut him off.

"I'm aware of who I was with. How can I help you, Detective?" I smiled, drinking a cup with water, using my non-injured hand.

Detective Mendes looked at my friends, and I think they understood what he meant so they left the room. He turned back to me and began speaking.

"Did you know Lauren before you ran into her?" His eyes were not breaking eye contact with me, they were light brown filled with dedication, he is not getting anything out of me.

Even though there is nothing I could tell the detective that will help them with the case.

"No."

"What did Lauren tell you?"

"Nothing."

"When did you run into her?"

"I forgot."

He let out a sigh, he was getting frustrated. I was starting to like this game, sure, I was partially lying.. but he won't find that out.

"What we're you doing at the scene? We sent out a message to all residents to stay in doors-"

"I must have lost my phone."

I smiled gently as he groaned in frustration, his hands went to slick his hair back. He put his pad and pen away, and stood up.

"I want you to know, miss.." He looked at the clipboard that was at the edge of my bed that nurses use to check in on me, "Cabello.. Lauren Jauregui is no joke, she is a serious murderer. Escaped prison more than twice, killed over 30 innocent people, and is out for everyone. She spared your life, so you are more than lucky, but there is a reason... We could look into you, your family, your friends, just to find what dirt you have that Lauren does not- or does know. You could be sent to court once we have Lauren, you were a witness and she never leaves witnesses... so i'm going to ask you one more time, why did Lauren spare your life?"

Honest answer, I didn't know.

I wish this dumb detective could've told me, why. Why. Why.

"Listen detective, once you do have Lauren, i'll be happy to take the stand as a witness... but as of right now, you have no legal right to ask more questions. You could go through my records, I have nothing to hide. But I will tell you this, one more time, I don't know why Lauren spared my life instead of adding my name to her list." My jaw was strong, our eye contact was sharp.

Mendes and I were both looking for answers in each other's eyes that we had no clue of. We were both as clueless. We can't help each other though because we are different. Our feelings towards Lauren are different. Detective Mendes wants Lauren dead. He wants to feel like he isn't a failure letting her get away. He wants her dead because obviously a prison can't keep her. He wants to see Lauren at her most valuable state, and he wants to take everything she has and crush in front of her eyes as she slowly loses her breath.

What do I want?

What do I feel for Lauren?

I want Lauren to show me how she could survive with blood on her hands..

"Okay then, i'll be leaving now. Thanks for your time Ms.Cabello." Detective Mendes broke eye contact and start heading out the door until I stopped him.

"When you do arrest Lauren, it won't change a thing." I said, catching his attention but not wanting to turn to face me.

"We'll see about that." And just like that, he was gone.

Oh Lauren, what did I get myself into for you.
