Darius POV
Swain rubbed his chin as he went through every detail. Draven and Katarina had just given us the story they were able to get. From afar, it looked like a bloodbath. Chances are it's even messier up close.
Swain: The lights went out which means he's either a very prepared individual or he has outside help. What do you think Draven?
Draven: Oh he's got help. There ain't a doubt in my mind. The guy is a complete dumbass that I enjoyed watching the whole time.
I could feel Kat rolling her eyes with a thought process akin to 'if he would just shut up, that would be delightful'. What really sucked about this murder is that Swain just made an announcement regarding these assassinations. This may make him look really bad.
Swain: We have a name and an address. Now we need a motive.
That could be just about anything. Money feels too simply and the way he kills his victims tells a more personal story. He couldn't be brute either since Draven made him out to be a normal everyday citizen.
Darius: Perhaps there is something the higher ups did to upset him. Murdering his victims the way he does and how messy he makes it for others, it's clear that someone did something to upset him.
Katarina: If we go off that logic, that means Swain will eventually be on his list.
Swain nods while mumbling a 'perhaps' too himself. Political power gives people the ability to do as they please and then just sweep it under the rug. Swain isn't one to pull tactics like that, not unless he had something to hide.
Swain: What is one thing they all had in common besides being a politic?
Darius: Besides them being smaller figures in Noxus, I'd go as far as to say they have suspicious activities.
Draven: And lets not forget that some of them being dead made some people happier.
This gets us closer to an answer but we're still short on details. Swain may not have a lot of dirt on himself but that doesn't put him in the clear. I'm not going to allow this Y/N to make an attempt on Swain's life. I hoist up my axe and make my way for the exit.
Darius: The law will discover this murder soon so I will be in the area ready to investigate.
Swain: Try to get anything. An upfront confrontation without his motive could lead to unnecessary fighting and I'd rather not lose any potential assets.
I nod and ride the elevator the the ground floor. When I step out, I'm greeted by a grinning desert rose.
Samira: Hey hot stuff.
Darius: Come to trick me into a dinner date again?
Samira: As lovely as that sounds, no. I got my own lover to deal with now.
She runs her hand across her third, more demonic looking gun. If I recall, this was a Darkin she mentioned during her last visit. Walking around with one of those isn't wise or legal but as she would say 'I haven't gotten in trouble yet'.
Darius: Then what are you in for?
Samira: Am I not allowed to give relationship advice to the thorn upstairs? She clings to Swain like a lost puppy.
Darius: If she was listening, you wouldn't have finished that sentence.
She just giggles before proceeding to walk past me, running her hand across my chest in the process.
Samira: I will miss us being a thing.
Darius: You won't.
She lets out a loud bit of laughter a few moments after my comment. The Darkin must have made a comment about the exchange.
Samira: See ya some other time tiger.
We exchange waves as the elevator doors shut. The woman will be the death of herself one day. I head back outside and get Blackmane ready to ride. Almost on queue did my phone get a news feed update. William Lucas and staff found dead in Club Jenova.
Darius: Lets ride Blackmane!
He kicks himself with a fiery neigh and gallops at full speed. The ride took about 40 minutes but Blackmane was only getting warmed up. Most of our horses here in Noxus are have much stronger breeds. The Immortal Bastion is a large city after all. We pull up in front of the club just as officers started pulling out the bodies.
Darius: Riven!
The small but tough chief officer turns to me width a confused look. I hop down from Blackmane and leave him to one of the officers. They might survive dealing with him.
Riven: The hell are you doing here?
Darius: I just got the news a little while ago and Swain wanted me to investigate.
Riven: At least you're not your brother. Come on.
She leads me inside and to the third floor. The place was a complete mess. No civilians were harmed but he certainly wouldn't have minded killing them too. There were no survivors in the fighting. There were about 38 killed, including one Willaim Lucas.
Riven: The murder was the same as the rest of them. Giant serrated blade through the abdomen. Our technicians say that something had shut down the indoor lighting for the second and third floor. Camera's were also disabled so we have next to nothing on this guy.
Darius: From the sounds of it, it's clear he has help. Must be someone from Piltover.
Riven: Even Draven could've made that guess. Actually, no he couldn't.
She is never letting go of their beef. Whelp, that's his problem, not mine. My guess on this help being from Piltover holds weight for each kill Y/N has made. He's Noxian by all records so there is no way he'd be this good with technology. Me and the squad of officers look around for a bit till I find the security room. The place that controls all the camera's and such. It struck me that while we may not have visual evidence, we might have some audio. I plop a headset on and begin to run things back as best I could.
There was in fact, just enough audio. It was fuzzy and most of it was filled with the sounds of battle, there was talking right up at the end.
Y/N: Really? You don't btzzzzz.... Now, tell me this. Why don't I btzzzzz....
William: Btzzzz.... swear! I don't have time for little btzzzz....
Y/N: Btzzzzzz..... and I know btzzzzz.... that one of you assholes took her from me! So I'll ask again! Do btzzz.....
It wasn't as much as I wanted but was much more than I thought I'd get. 'Took her from me'. Was a girl he cared about capture or killed? Whatever the case is, this is sounding more like a revenge plot. I pry the headphones off and shake my head to get the buzzing out of my ears.
Riven: Find anything useful?
Darius: No. It was all static. Whoever is helping this guy made sure to cover every route.
She twists her mouth to the side before shaking her head. I couldn't tell her anything because we may have use for Y/N. At the very least, we have something of a motive now.
Darius: I'm going to contact Swain and give him what we've learned here. If this guy is targeting political figures than we may need to up security.
Riven: Well, while you do that we're going to continue investigating and piecing together any evidence we get. We'll keep you updated.
I nod and head outside to Blackmane. A quick dial up of Swain's number and the ring only goes through once.
Swain: You have anything?
From there on, I tell him everything that I was able to find. Strangely enough, he sent Katarina to his place this time. She didn't want too and neither did Draven but Swain was adamant this was the right choice. She could keep a longer eye on anyone than Draven could. We more than likely won't here from her until tomorrow evening at the latest.
I just hope she doesn't do something stupid.
