Chapter 5 ➭ Walks

'Would you care for a walk today?'

It had been a couple days since the operation. Things had gone back to normal, and you continued helping Albedo and Sucrose. Sucrose had seemingly forgiven Albedo for wanting her to leave, but the topic its itself didn't come up. Albedo approached you after a while, near the afternoon.

'We can walk around Mondstadt. Near Windrise.'

Albedo looked at you, tucking his hair behind his ear. You nodded, smiling.

'Sure, I would love to. It's been a while since we've been outside anyways. Shall we bring Sucr – '

'There is no need. Let it be just us two.'

Albedo took your hand and indicated the door. You felt a bit bad for leaving Sucrose behind, but...

'Shouldn't we tell her? Sucrose might wonder where we are.' You were being pulled towards the door of the room before you could pull back.

'It is fine.' Albedo's short reply made you slightly anxious about it all, but you shook it off.

Does he just suddenly hate Sucrose? Has she done something? Maybe I'm just overthinking it. Like I always do.

You and Albedo began walking through Dragonspine, and you shivered slightly due to the cold. Albedo walked casually, as if the cold wasn't bothering him at all.

You tried to straighten up, but you were wearing very little warm clothing. The snow crunched under your feet as you gazed in wonder at the mounds of snow that surrounded you and Albedo. Snowflakes drifted from the sky and light gusts of wind make your hands turn numb with cold. The landscape of ice and snow made you simply stare at the beauty of it all. Albedo watched your expression with a hint of smugness. You hadn't been outside in ages, so it had been so long since you'd since seen how pretty Dragonspine really was.

Albedo looked at you.

'So beautiful.'

And he wasn't talking about Dragonspine.

The two of you managed to get to Windrise without freezing to death. You warmed up rather quickly and you two began simply walking around the area, talking about whatever came to mind. It was so calming. The rush of wind that made the flowers and grass blow gently, the sound of birds and the occasional chatter of some nearby residents of Mondstadt.

'Oh! Y/N!'

It was someone you weren't particularly expected, yet you greeted them cheerfully enough.

'Kaeya! It's nice to see you again.'

Albedo's eyes narrowed as Kaeya approached you, his long hair gently blowing in the wind.

'It's good to see you again too. And you Albedo.'

Albedo nodded curtly but took your hand silently.

'Anyways, I just wanted to tell you that I've been recently thinking that you should join the Knights, Y/N.'

'I'm alright. I have a lot to do as it is – '

'What, with Albedo?' Kaeya laughed lightly. 'I doubt you do much there, in such an isolated place such as Dragonspine. Does he keep you busy, Y/N? No need to look at me like that, Albedo. You aren't dating. Just let me borrow Y/N for a bit, okay?'

Albedo sighed as he brought you closer to him.

'That is none of your business. Y/N said no.'

You looked at Kaeya apologetically, but he didn't seem affected.

'You're acting like him...' Kaeya muttered something under his breath but then spoke up louder right after. 'Think about it okay? And are the two of you actually dating? Quite a shame, I would have been interested in you myself, Y/N.'

With that, Kaeya gave a parting smile then turned around and left.

Albedo rolled his eyes, but his gaze softened as his eyes settled on you.

'You're so jealous.' Albedo wasn't hiding it, so what harm was it in pointing it out?

'You're just... Y/N, I only want you.' Albedo seemed to be conflicted with himself. His eyes scanned your face absent-mindedly. Albedo then gave in and pressed his lips against yours.

Albedo tilted his head and placed a hand near your waist and another at the back of your head, his body pressing against yours. You froze for a few seconds then kissed back. It was in that moment you realised you truly did love him. It was pressed at the back of your mind, but you were in love with Albedo, and he was as well.

Albedo pulled back; his cheeks flushed as he looked down to the ground. You were still quite surprised from the sudden kiss, yet you regained your composure.

'I – '

'I'm in love with you, Y/N. I... hope that...'

You pressed your lips against Albedo's once again, then pulled back quickly.

'Is that a clear enough answer?' You grinned as Albedo wrapped you into a hug. He practically melted in your arms, his head resting on your shoulder.

'Should we... go back? Sucrose might be worried.' You began walking towards Dragonspine again.

'Ah, of course. We should... do that.'

'And then we can do each other.' You muttered to the ground.

'Did you say something?'

'Nope!'
