'Hello, Chongyun, Xingqiu.' Albedo greeted the pair, who glanced up at the alchemist in slight surprise.
It was getting late, around evening now. People were now filing out the area, scattering to their homes, as the sun began to set.
'Albedo? It's nice seeing you here.' Chongyun smiled.
'Likewise. I wanted to... ask something.'
The two looked confused but slowly nodded. In all honesty, Chongyun was quite scared of Albedo, he seemed stern and strangely proper, but... isn't that what an alchemist should be?
'Can I please... borrow Chongyun for a minute? It will be quick I just need to... confirm some things.' Albedo was hesitant. 'Oh, not to ruin your date or anyth - '
Chongyun's eyes widened and numbly dropped his head in his hands. Xingqiu just laughed, despite being quite flustered himself.
'We're... not on a date.' Chongyun mumbled through his hands. 'We're friends, but I don't... um -'
Xingqiu smiled, even though it seemed a little forced, then nodded slowly. 'It's okay. You can borrow my boyfri - '
'Xingqiu!'
'Thank you very much.' Albedo indicated for Chongyun to follow him, while Xingqiu sighed and gazed up at the sky.
I need to confess one of these days... Perhaps with a letter? Is that romantic? Or I could give him a gift, such as...
Albedo took the exorcist to a nearby, mainly secluded area. 'I need you to do something for me.' Albedo stated firmly, not particularly giving the other a choice. 'It's about Xingqiu...'
Explaining what he wanted to do, he carefully worded his explanation as to persuade Chongyun to agree with him. However, Chongyun shook his head defiantly. 'I like Xingqiu - I can't do this to him, I'm sorry. He's... an amazing friend and I wouldn't do anything to change that.'
'Are you sure?' Albedo pressed on. 'There are a lot of things people do for love.'
'My answer is no.'
Annoyance rippled Albedo's usually calm demeanour, so he decided to opt for his secondary plan instead.
'Alright but...' Albedo brought out the vial of poison. 'Can you check something for me?'
*
Back at the lab, fear rushed through your body as water poured from the base of the capsule, rushing up towards your ankles.
Think.
You could start screaming, but if Albedo had put you in here, he wouldn't really care, would he?
Does he really want me dead?
But those questions could be saved for another time, as water was now seeping up to your calves. Your first instinct was to break the glass. It all went in vain as the material was a lot thicker than you had anticipated and panic filled your stomach as water began to creep up your legs.
NONONONONO-
There was nothing in the tank. Nothing to save you.
No internal structures, no anything. Yet you kept trying. Banging against the firm glass until the capsule shook.
Could I tip it over?
And just as this idea struck you, you heard a weird sound emit from the corridor. A recognisable figure stepped forwards and you watched as Albedo calmly walked towards you. Water rose to your throat, panic swelling in your gut, yet a single beeping sound made the water pool away around your feet, just as it was about to encapsulate your mouth.
He had saved you. Although, he had put you in there in the first place.
You instinctively froze, your thoughts incoherent.
What do I even do in this situation?
'Was the water too cold? I followed the human's bodily temperatures and my calculations - '
He slowly walked over to where you sat, terrified, opening an almost invisible hatch at the front of the capsule. Pressing yourself against the walls of it, you glanced up at the alchemist who gave a slight frown.
'Darling? What's wrong? Why are you scared of me? Are you okay? .... Y/N?'
You didn't know what to do. At all. As Albedo began to approach your stiff body, you stumbled out of the capsule and you heard Albedo laugh lightly from behind you.
'There isn't anywhere to go, love. You might as well not use your energy. I know how precious it is to you huma - '
Ignoring him swiftly, you froze at Sucrose's door. Icy water trickled off your skin, pooling around you, with your hair damp and clinging to your skin as panic swelled in your stomach.
I'm desperate at this point.
'Oh, she won't open up.'
Your eyes widened in panic as Albedo began to walk towards you, smiling as if this situation was an ordinary occurrence.
'It's because she's - '
He was cut off. A loud crashing sound - the sound of something like glass shattering to the floor, emitted around the lab.
What. was. that. I swear to god I need to -
And then it happened. Albedo grabbed you from behind, wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you towards his chest.
And without missing a beat, he collapsed onto the floor.
