"I want to live forever. If I could live forever, everything would come true."

-

August 2nd, 8:00am, 1977:

"So you finally noticed it." Kars grinned.

Esidisi snapped his head around, just glad it wasn't you. "That's the red stone around that women's neck, isn't it?"

Kars nodded and put his head in his hand. "That's the Lisa Lisa that possesses it. To think in a mere matter of days, the invitation that shall grant us the chance of a lifetime will be in our grasp."

"How do you plan on getting into the event? They will be looking for Y/N won't they?"

"One of us will accompany her there, and before she'll know, we would have taken the stone and killed all who remain witness." Kars' grin grew wider. "The one she seeks solace in shall carry out the deed. Our little Y/N is lonely, though she won't admit it - you can see it in her eyes. She will succumb to the only attention she has received in years, and seal her own fate. The stone shall be mine. Easier than slitting a baby's throat." Kars' tenacity shone through his icy expression. He knew exactly what he was doing. He could see right through you since day one and knew what he had to do to use you as a puppet. Just the presence of Kars' unbreakable resolve alone was enough to send a shiver down Esidisi's spine.

"I didn't think you were the romantic type~" Esidisi teased.

"I'm not. I am a being with great ambition Esidisi." Kars' scoffed, turning his head and folding his arms, only making Esidisi laugh more. Despite Kars' love of teasing others, he despised anyone turning the tables and trying it on him.

Esidisi just shook it off. "I didn't think she'd pick a sarcastic bastard like you anyway~" He turned to face the painting while grinning as he waited for Kars to argue.

"Shut up. This isn't a competition Esidisi. If it was we know you'd end up crying if you lost anyway." Kars retorted.

He grit his teeth ready to argue as Kars turned to see you emerge from your room. "Morning."

"Morning!" You shouted back. "Did you stay safe last night?"

You weren't entirely sure where that came from, you weren't sure whether that statement was out of genuine concern for them or just your hospitality side coming out.

"Of course." Kars responded to your surprise. "As you requested, we didn't wake you upon our return, did we?" He knew fine well they didn't. He would have been able to sense it if they had - but of course you couldn't know that.

"No, no! I slept like an angel!" You smiled, feeling refreshed and ready for the day. Strange, the good a full nights sleep with do. You woke feeling like this, you were completely determined to speak to them today - maybe even make a friend. You knew all to well nothing was permanent, so when the opportunity was to present itself, you shouldn't let it drift away in a sea of regret. Today was the day.

"Breakfast will be ready in 30."

The two filled the room with fake chatter as you were still in sight, merely discussing the weather. It was often a popular topic amongst the humans, as they had observed over the years. They suspected that you would stop listening or tune out if they spoke of something so uninteresting. They were right. You immediately went back to thinking of cooking and what you were reading last night. You had seen cloudy skies so many times in your life, two men talking about them was hardly tempting enough for you to eaves drop. Although, you will admit you were just genuinely curious of them - you would do your best to listen in occasionally. Despite how eye catching these men dressed and acted, they could hardly communicate with each other without making you yawn - like they were holding back or just all had severe social anxiety. It was almost like they had just met. You wanted to hear them speak of concerts or touring the world! All the interesting stories that would come with living out one's dreams! Not something you could read in the weather column of the newspaper - or heck - even look outside to see. You were determined to get some information out of them today. It most certainly wasn't like you to be the talkative one - but someone has to step up and make things more interesting. On the other hand, perhaps you had read too many books and the real world really was that boring - but a gut feeling was telling you otherwise.
