"Son can you play me a memory, I'm not really sure how it goes. But it's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete, when I wore a younger man's clothes."

The days were closing in towards Lisa Lisa's wedding day, the nerves building. You hadn't really spoken to Kars at all, with the exception of a few greetings. You suspected it was because he was busy with the research in his room he had mentioned prior. He seemed to spend all day in his room out of the way of everyone else. As for the others, Santana would sit with you whenever you would cook a meal, watching on in silence. He would occasionally ask a question regarding what you were doing, then return to watching you. Wammu was making his way through your entire book collection, he particularly liked your shonen mangas or any story that involved combat. Meanwhile, Esidisi would come out of his room just to tease you about Kars it seemed, at least it put a smile on his face.

The comment Esidisi made about Kars leaving you on your doorstep had been floating around in your mind. You didn't really have anything nice to wear for the wedding, it hadn't even crossed your mind before he had mentioned it. It was difficult to afford anything with what your parents had left you. You couldn't help but feel a little bit self conscious, especially after watching Kars parade around in that designer jacket and his fancy hat - not to mention the jewels that scattered glimmers when he was embraced by the moonlight. He looked like he belonged in a fashion house, he'd fit in just fine. You on the other hand, only seemed to own ragged, moth-eaten cardigans and pyjama pants. You couldn't exactly just summon money from no where to buy yourself something.

"L/N"

A voice shattered your thoughts and brought you back into the room.

"We're leaving tonight, we should be there well before sunrise." His figure leaned against the other side of your bedroom door, making it creak. Without even waiting for a response, likely because he wasn't going to take no for an answer, his footsteps echoed down the hall.

You looked down at your old suitcase, the zip barely holding it together and sighed. Your hand traced the patchwork pattern on it and then made its way to your side as you stood up from your bed. Taking in one last look at your left belongings you inhaled and began to drag the suitcase out of the room, silently struggling as your arm began to buckle with the weight of it. Luckily, Wammu seen you from downstairs and hurried to your aid, picking the suitcase up effortlessly with one hand and taking it to the door for you. You thanked him and let him know you'd be going into town today, mostly to get food for when you are away. Santana had agreed to do the cooking for Wammu and Esidisi since he was practically an expert after watching you for the past week.

You took a deep breath and heaved your front door open, the salt air caressing your skin, intertwining through your hair. You closed it behind you with all the strength you had, your eyes taking in the building you stood before. They seemed to fall upon Kars' room. The curtains obscuring any sunlight from reaching where he resided. Tearing you eyes away, you made your way through the weed filled garden, towards where the gate should have been locked. Instead it lay amongst the grass like a lost artefact, moss infecting the steel bars. Your hand traced the wooded fence as more weeds tickled your feet while you padded across the stone pathing. The grass faded as you made your way down a small country road, the trees' shadows dancing across the tarmac, along with your own. You hadn't been outside properly since the strange men had arrived, so it was enchanting to feel the sea air on your skin once more. It seemed to ease your thoughts, like the universe was with you on your walk.

The tarmac began to fade along with the trees as the sea came into sight. They were replaced by cobblestones and steel railings. The small town was in view now, children's laughter and chatter filled the air as you made your way down that singular street. You smiled and greeted everyone you passed, making your way to the bar. Even at nine in the morning it was still bustling with life, which was almost strange to witness after being locked away for the past week.
