Sarika's sleep got broken due to the whispers around her. She groaned before trying to go back to sleep when the actual conversation reached her ears, making all the sleepiness vanish.

"Gyaan, please go and heal her. Sarah has been whimpering in pain for a long time," Rewa pleaded.

"I...I am so sorry. My entire energy was spent in healing the twin's parents. Please check if anybody has painkillers, because I will need at least four hours before I can help anybody again."

"Why are you saying no before even trying? It is not a huge wound that would take too much of your energy." Rewa was beyond frustrated at the guy who didn't even bother standing up and going to see what was happening to Sarah. "Is it because we aren't elements?"

"What rubbish are you talking about?" Gyaan's voice raised, causing many of the researchers to groan in their sleep.

Rewa scoffed, "It's the truth. Even the plant has more importance than us. After all, an element had pleaded for its safety. You completely healed the twin's parents too. If you wanted you could have only healed them until they were out of danger and saved your energy. But no, the incomplete process only happens when you heal humans," Rewa blustered, referring to the point where Gyaan left healing Sarika and Sarah when they received the news of fire.

Gyaan was about to retort but he stopped when he saw Sarika stand up.

"Enough Rewa, this is no way to speak to someone who is only trying to help. Whatever happened was because of the situation and not his personal agenda. We shouldn't question his intentions like this.

"Go back to your seat and try to reduce your anger. You are a smart child, Rewa. I am sure you will understand where you went wrong yourself, when you think about it calmly."

Sarika then moved towards Sarah who was whimpering in pain. She moved her daughter slowly and carefully, so that Sarah's upper part of the body was on Sarika's lap. Sarah adjusted herself as she held onto her mother. Her face was towards Sarika's stomach, giving Sarika access to Sarah's back.

Sarika gently roamed her hands on her daughter's back, giving her a massage. Having always experienced leg pains, Sarika knew that a hand massage was more appreciable than any painkiller.

"Gosh, this is embarrassing," came Sarah's muffled voice, as her head was pressed on Sarika's stomach.

"I don't understand you teenagers, what is so embarrassing in getting help from your mother," Sarika huffed. "If you were so interested in  showing bravery by taking my share of hits, then now show bravery while taking my help."

"It is a crime to even help this woman," Sarah grunted upon hearing her mother's taunts.

"Of course, it is a crime. Anything that hurts my daughter like this, is a crime," Sarika said in an emotional voice, unknowingly adding more pressure to Sarah's back.

"Ow! Careful."

"Sorry."

Sarah chuckled hearing her mother's reluctant apology.

"Why did you do that?" Sarika asked after a few seconds.

"Huh?"

"We always keep fighting, so why did you jump on me to take all the hits?" Sarika's throat clogged up as she tried to control her cries.

"Obviously because I knew that my young, healthy body would be better to take the hits rather than your old, frail body, " Sarah joked, earning a light smack from her mother.

"Seriously Mom, what kind of question was that? For whom else I would do this stunt if not for my mother?" Sarah asked, moving her head a little to face her mother.

"But...but we keep fighting. We have so many differences of opinions." Sarika still couldn't fathom the fact that Sarah would do something like this for her.

Sarah groaned, before she got up from Sarika's lap.

"What are you doing? Lie back, you are hurt," Sarika spoke in a panicked tone.

"I will," Sarah held her mother's shoulders, "after making you understand everything properly."

Sarika's eyebrows furrowed, not understanding what her daughter was trying to do.

"Did you see the twins today?" Sarah asked with raised eyebrows, making Sarika more confused.

"Did you notice that they were trying so hard to not look at their parents?"

Sarika nodded slowly, "Yes, and I understand too. It must be hard for them to look at the people who threw them out at the tender age of ten."

"Yet they went inside the house to save them, without a second thought." Sarah smiled when she saw that her mother was slowly getting what she was trying to say. "Our bickering is nothing compared to their hatred. When they couldn't stop loving their parents after being through so much, then how can I?

"Even if I hated you, which I don't, there would still be a small part of my heart that would care for your well being. Because that part of my body can't help but make thousands of excuses for your acts that displease me. It always takes your side," Sarah finished with a small smile.

Sarika returned the gesture with a wobbly smile of her own as she caressed Sarah's head. Sarah then resumed her previous position on her mother's lap, but this time without any embarrassment.

A few hours passed by and Gyaan came towards Sarah to properly heal her.

"Thanks for supporting and understanding me," he said to the middle aged researcher. He hadn't thought that out of everybody, Sarika would turn out to be more understanding of his position.

"Don't mention it. I know you are trying your best."

He healed Sarah who thanked him, before stretching her arms out. The previous hours had been so testing. Although she was glad for the heart to heart conversation she had with her mother, Sarah never wanted to go through that pain ever again.

Sarah looked back towards Rewa and blinked her eyes reassuringly, giving the girl silent support. Gathering her courage, Rewa stood up and came near Sarah's seat.

She hesitantly looked up at Gyaan, trying to form her words.

"Sorry," she whispered, not having courage to speak up more.

"Don't worry about it," Gyaan waved off her worry, knowing fully well that the kid was a good child and was just having a bad time with everything happening around them.

"All's well when it ends well."

Sarah's words brought a tinge of laughter which was enough to make Rewa's awkwardness disappear.
