𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶 𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁. Period.
Tbh, maraming authors na ito ang fear nila: The fear of not being technically perfect.
But lemme tell you this: 𝗬𝗼𝘂, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿, 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙩.
And you know what artists are? They are mad. Craaazzzyyy. But that's the thing, eh. Ito 'yong edge ng artists mula sa mga mortal na nilalang (😆). Normal people see the world as it is. We? The mad artists? We see the world as art kaya tayo nakakagawa ng art.
Yes, your stories? Those are your artworks.
At ano nga ang sabi nila? "𝘼𝙧𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙚; 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜" Eleanor and Park (2012)
Kailan ba tayo naka-feel ng 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 sa perfect? 🤔
Gusto ko ring i-point out na tao lang po tayo at ang mga tao ay prone to errors. Kahit nga ang AI o computers ay nagkaka-error na kailangan ayusin ng mga tao. Kaya naman kailangan talaga natin itatak sa isip natin na hindi mawawala ang errors sa layf.
And that's okay.
Kasi errors can be fixed. It can be molded. It can be rewritten.
I mean, don't get me wrong: sobrang saya kapag marunong tayo technically. Kapag alam natin ang pinagkaiba ng 𝗻𝗴 at 𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗴, saan ginagamit ang 𝗿𝗶𝗻 at 𝗱𝗶𝗻, pati ang pag-alam na 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿 ang spelling at hindi w̷r̷i̷t̷t̷e̷r̷.
Gustong pag-aralan ang technicalities? Ang tamang grammar? Ang mga salita? Go for it!
But we shouldn't be paralyzed dahil lang sa hindi natin alam ang mga ito.
In creating art, we should start with the first step which is to create. Write. Draft.
Iba namang usapan kapag for publishing na. Kapag for publishing kasi, may pera nang involved and it's more of a business than art itself (tho, sana side by side pa rin ang dalawa, please lang huhu).
But ayon nga, business. Mas malawak. Ito ang rason kung bakit sa publishing ay maraming editors (substance, line, copy, may proofreader pa, isama ka pa sa titingin).
𝗡𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 kaya nandiyan ang editors to help you with all those problems: technicalities, grammar, and misspelled words.
Minsan nga, kahit pagka-publish, mayroon pa ring errors ang mga libro. Minimal man, may errors pa rin.
We can try to minimize errors, yes, pero dapat hindi natin ito idepende sa kung kailan tayo magsusulat kasi hangga't hinahanap natin ang perfection sa story natin, hindi tayo matututong mahalin ang mga ginagawa natin.
Kung kating-kati ka talaga ayusin ang errors — the best way to handle this is to have someone by your side who could help you spot those errors. May it be a friend or a hired editor / proofreader para lang ma-satisfy kahit papaano ang sarili.
But then again, we humans always have more things to screw up after. And committing mistakes means we're only human. You are human, you are an artist, you create art – ito ang pinakaimportante sa ngayon.
Marami akong kilalang nauna ang pag-alam sa technicalities kaysa mag-enjoy at mag-grow sa pagsusulat. Sila rin ang hirap makapagsulat dahil 𝘯𝘢𝘶𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘮 sa techs.
Kaya habang maaga pa, tibagin na muna ang perfectionism sa ating pagkatao at magsulat nang magsulat nang magsulat. After learning through experiences after experiences, you'll then realize na ang technicalities pala ay matututuhan as time passes by, at hindi kailangan mag-isang gawin dahil may mga taong tutulong sa atin.
Kasi tao lang tayong manunulat.
And do you know what's one thing that technicalities don't have na mayroon ang human?
𝙋𝙪𝙨𝙤.
Puso muna sa pagsusulat bago ang technicalities.
