Being born without even a single drop of Mana was a death sentence to anyone who was unfortunate enough to be it's victim. Mana was the source of power used by every living creature in the universe and quickly became a tool that helped in the most smallest task such as manual labor to starting a war so great that it could change the landscape itself.
Asta was an orphan left at the front door of the church along with his soon to be adoptive brother Yuno but unlike Yuno he didn't have magic something which was even shocking to those around him while Yuno had more magic that one would mistake him for nobility or even royalty.
Even though Asta wasn't mistreated by the villagers but he wasn't stranger to the doubtful eyes and the mocking words that he received whenever he proclaimed that one day he will become the Wizard King. Asta was always in death door but he always overcame the odds stacked against him and his determination to get stronger had been the push needed for him to gain the attention of an ancient being seeking to gain a successor to his powers.
