Chapter 19

Distant, inaudible mumbling is all I hear. Suddenly I feel as if light is shining at my closed eyes. I struggle to open my eyes and they open just in time to see Alejandro pulling open the curtains of the hospital room. Hospital room?!

Holy hell! I'm in hospital?!

Memories begin rushing in and I feel a migraine coming. Dominic had gotten knocked.

I jolt up from the bed and see Isabella sitting on a chair next to the bed.

"Dominic. " I ask, almost unable to recognize my own voice.

Alejandro turns, seeming startled that I'm awake.

"He's  fine Evelyn. He has a few bruises but nothing too bad." He says "You have a head injury. The doctor said to call him when you woke up"

I need to see him right now. I place my feet on the cold ground and stand up, dizziness takes over me and I sit back on the bed.

"I have to see Dominic." Ignoring the pain at the back of my head, I jolt up and rush out of the room and see a doctor headed my direction.

I turn and go back into the room, "Please take me to him" I plead with Dominic's cousins.

Isabella sighs softy and heads to the door "I'll see what I can do."

With a breath of relief, I take a seat on the chair next to the bed I was supposed to be laying on.

After a while of anxiously waiting for Isabella to come, I hear the door opening.

"Can I talk to you?" Dominic's aunty asks, shuffling on her stubby legs.

My head is down as my fingers fidget on my lap. She's probably talking to Alejandro.

"Uh Evelyn?" Sofia mumbles softly.

I perk up, obviously confused as to why she would want to talk to me.

"Huh?"

She walks to me and sits on one of the chairs and says "I was standing by the window earlier. I saw the way you ran to Dominic before the car came."

Wow. Is she? Is she trying to apologize? I bring my gaze up the her to see her teary eyes staring at me.

"I'm sorry..." She continues, "For speaking to you the way I did"

I literally hate it when people apologize to me. It makes me feel bad, "It's okay. You had a reason."

She sobs "The accident was entirely my fault."

"No it wasn't. Please don't say that" I assure her.

"I just want the best for him. I want him to find real love. His mother, my sister never had that. But I think you are the right girl for him" she places her hands on my fidgety ones "You love him and I'm sure he's in love with you"

I freeze. I love him? He's in love with me? My feelings are strong for him but I'm not sure he feels the same way.

Sofia apologizes once again and we share a long and comfortable hug.

I hear the sound of a camera clicking and pull away from Sofia to see Isabella standing at the door.

"I have to show this to Dom while he's awake" she says excitedly while looking at her phone.

"He's awake!?" I ask, standing up immediately.

Isabella nods and smiles softly.

"Please take me to him" I say and she calls me out the room and into the room Dominic is in.

The walk to his room was somehow the longest and shortest walk ever.

When he comes into sight I almost start ugly crying immediately but I control it.

He's sitting up on the bed, hair all messy and a small bandage on his forehead. A small smile playing on his lips as he sees me going towards him.

"Hey"  His voice sounds as if he needs water.

I start getting all frantic "Oh my God Dominic. Do you need water?" I turn to Isabella "Wait here with him, I'll get him water" I say to her and she just smiles.

"Isa stop her" Dominic says and I stop, turning to him.

Isabella giggles like a school girl and I turn and playfully glare at her.

"I'm sorry Dominic. I just...you're sick and you got hit, the car, it hit you and..." I start only to be stopped by Dominic.

"Shh" he chuckles "You're so worried about me?" He asks with a smirk gracing his lips.

Sofia's voice plays in my head. You love him.

What is happening to me?
