I was standing in the elevator hoping that it would get to the 70th floor faster. I looked over to the android to my right. The brand new, cyber-life prototype, that I put so much time and effort into making, playing with a coin. I want to know which member of my team programmed him to do that. I watched him as he continued to do coin tricks. I looked up at the number to see that it was only 20.
"Can this thing go any faster?" I sighed, looking back over to the taller robot.
I looked him up and down. He had the android jacket on that had the stupid triangle and the armband. His shirt is a white button-up and he had a tie on like a proper businessman. He looked back at me. His hair was perfectly styled and he just looked great overall. I smiled.
"It won't be much longer, Miss Kamski," he said in a monotone voice.
"Please Connor, you know I hate the Miss Kamski thing," I said.
"That is the proper way to address you," he replied.
"I know and I hate it, just use my first name, Connor. I know you know it," I sighed again, running a hand through my hair. "Are you ready Connor? This is your first major assessment," I asked.
"Yes I am ready," he declared, putting the coin in his pocket.
"That's good. Your mission is to save that girl. Do whatever means necessary to succeed," I told him and he nodded. "And if this goes well, in a few months you will be out in Detroit. Catching more deviants and making me look good," I smiled.
"I will succeed at this mission Miss Kamski," he stated, looking back forward and adjusting his tie. I swear I will reprogram him to call me by my first name. I thought.
"I know you will. Just remember I'm here to watch you. Make sure you do well," I remind him.
"I am aware, Miss Kamski," he responded. Then I heard a ding noise. I looked back to the doors and watched as they opened.
I stepped out of the elevator and looked around the space. It looked nice. I turned back to Connor but he wasn't in the elevator anymore. I turned to see him holding a picture frame. I walked over to him and looked at it. It was a family picture, they looked so happy. Sad to know one of them is dead and another life is being threatened. He put the photo down and walked around me. Then a lady who was crying walked up to him and grabbed him.
"Please, please, you have to save my little girl," she begged and then looked at him more closely. "Wait... You're sending an android?" She let him go and backed away. Then a swat guy dragged her away as she was screaming about Connor.
