Riley's POV
My mouth is covered with a rag and my hands wrapped behind my back. We were in a trunk, Olly next to me, looking equally terrifyed. Her eyes are wide and shouting in panic, though she makes not actual sounds. Suddenly she lashes around. She kicks out to the back of the trunk and whines in pain, going limp.
I move my hands, feeling an unpleasant scraping against my wrists. It's fraying rope, binding my hands together and away. I try and calm my gaze and close my eyes momentarily.
"Riley." She whisper yells. I fling my eyes open and stare at her. "Don't sleep. Please." I nod and move my hands around to grab the rope again, shimmying it down around the bump of my wrist and then off my fingers. I carefully reach up and take off the cloth wrapped around my face.
"Stay calm Olly," I untie her face cloth and then take off the rope. She brings her hands up and flexes her fingers into and out of a fist.
"I'm going to kill them." She growls glaring at the back of the trunk.
The car creeps to a stop.
"We jump out and kick them and run." I whisper. She nods as I feel it pull over. I hear a car door slam and then I hear someone grumble and a clink of keys on the ground. The trunk suddenly lifts and then as the light filters into my eyes.
"RILEY!"
I sit up suddenly, my head pounding like someone hit me over the head with a metal baseball bat, no how about a full sized crane came smashing to my head. The light hurts my eyes, it's too bright, despite it being dusk. I look at Olly who is staring at me in terror, clutching her bike's handle bars. I look to the right and scream as I see a car screeching on the breaks. I scramble toward the driveway, my knees and hands getting cut and scuffed on the assault.
The car stops and I hear a door slam as Olly runs up to hug me, pulling me farther up the driveway.
"What where you're going next time ya hooligans!" The door slams again and the engine revs as it speeds away. I close my eyes tight, trying to stop the light, now reddening my eyelids.
Damn this dusk.
"Riley oh my god you scared me. Riley." I shook my head, and then clutched at it with my fingers. I tug my nails above my hairline, this head is horrible.
"Riley you sped ahead of me," I feel a drop of water in my cheek. "And your tire hit a divot and the bike flew and you were passed out and I was too far behind you to realize what happened and I'm sorry," Olly rambles on.
"I don't remember that, I remember coming down the driveway..." I look around seeing the others running down the driveway.
"Olly! Riley!" I her Renee's frantic calls.
"You didn't come back and we were so worried!" Lauren exclaims, coming upon us.
"What happened?!" Renee drops to her knees, looking at my scraped forehead.
"Lauren," Olly looks up. "Ride her bike back and get your mom." She nods and speeds away on the bike.
"Are you okay Riley? What hurts?"
I motion to my head distractedly.
"Do you think she has a concussion?" Olly's voice sounds scared, Renee draws a shaky breath.
"She could..."
I hear the bike come again, I must have zoned out.
The next thing I know I'm on the couch with an ice back on my head and my knees and left hand in bandages. Dang, my wrist hurts too.
I hear Lauren's mother talking on the phone, I look around.
"Hey Riley," Renee says quietly. I look at her and Olly and then Lauren, Olly speaks.
"I'm sorry, I knew we should have turned back. I... We... I'm sorry. It shouldn't have happened. And your new and everything and I'm just sorry."
"It's okay," I say with a smile. "I'm okay."
"No your not Riley, " Lauren speaks. "We think you have a concussion."
"I'll be fine. We'll be fine." I say confidently, smiling brightly.
"We'll be fine?" Renee echoes questioningly.
"We'll be fine."A/N NOTE
