RWBY - [VOL 1 Episode 8] - Players and Pieces

(FLASHBACK)

The story starts with the sight of Weiss Schnee and Ruby Rose hanging on to something very feathery and very fast, as evidenced by the loud wind and the two being blown sideways.

(BACK TO PRESENT)

Down on the ground in the Abandoned Temple.

Yang: Blake, did you hear that? What should we do?

Matt: Hey Girls!

Blake & Yang: Hm?

Matt: Heads up.

Blake & Yang: (looks up)

Ruby: Heads uuuuuuuup!

Yang: RUBY?!

Before she was about to crash onto the ground, Matt managed to catch her by moving positions without having the elder sister and hidden Faunus knowing. He caught her in a bridal position making the red reaper blush.

Ruby: U-umm thanks.

Matt: No prob...

Jaune: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!

Matt: Ope, one moment.

Matt swiftly shifted his stance, balancing on one foot as he flicked his scythe upward with a practiced ease.

With a quick kick, he sent the scythe spinning through the air. The scythe struck a nearby tree, ricocheting perfectly off its trunk with a loud THUNK.

Ruby: (still in Matt's arms) What the—?!

The blade then sliced cleanly through a thick branch, sending it tumbling down toward the ground. 

The branch, dense with leaves and sturdy enough to act as a cushion, landed just in time—right beneath Jaune.

WHUMP!

Jaune: ( @_@) Uhhhhh, My back.

Blake: Did those two just fall from the sky?

Yang: I...

Before she can continue, several crashing noises are heard in the forest ahead of them, and an Ursa comes out, claws swiping, just as a pink blast of energy hits it in the back and it crashes to the ground, depositing its rider.
