I'm surprised you made it this far. Good job, have a sticker 🌟
(fr tho. Thank you for sticking with me this whole time!) You may have noticed the story keeps alternating between brief summary and detailed description, yeahh, I have a bad habit of doing that. But some scenes are more important than others and require more detail :D

Drizzle's POV

It was a frosty, chill morning. Frost caked the ground. The cold nipped at Drizzlepaw's nose and made his paws sting. He was almost always the last one up. He didn't fell like doing anything ever since Rosehip had died. He felt as if he was rooted to his nest.  "Last time I checked, cats don't hibernate!" His den mates had joked. Trying to lighten the mood, Drizzlepaw had guessed, but nothing seemed worth getting happy over anymore. He truly had nobody.

After moons of mourning and staying confined to his nest. But today he'd somehow strangely been the first one awake. He felt strangely energetic. The clearing was empty, he had the whole camp to himself! He did a few laps around the clearing but his muscles screamed at being forced to participate in such a physical demanding activity after being unused for so long but something made him keep going. He slowed to a stop, there was nothing to look foward too, why bother getting up? He looked around.
Once again, I have no one. Drizzlepaw thought, sighing grimly as loneliness suddenly washed over him.  "Hi darling! What are you doing up so early?" A voice greeted him from behind. Drizzlepaw begrudgingly turned around. A fluffy light grey cat she-cat with darker gray markings and a few white spots smiled at him. Except her I guess.. he thought with disappointment. My mother, Willlowspring. The happy introvert being alone vibe died instantly as cats began to wake up around him. Willowspring sauntered up to him and licked his forehead. "Good morning Drizz" Willowspring purred. "My name is Drizzlepaw.." He muttered. Of course, Willowspring ignored him. "Oh, my little Drizz how I love you. How'd you sleep?" She meowed. Licking his ear. He ducked, trying to dodge his mother's rough tongue. "Fine" He replied hastily. He hadn't slept at all, and if he did, Mudscale was nowhere to be seen throughout the entire time. Though Drizzlepaw didn't know Mudscale much, he missed him a bit. It was nice having someone to talk to that actually understands you.

Once his mother was done torturing him. He bolted away but immediately crashed into a huge black and white tom. "Sorry!" Drizzlepaw squealed, keeping his head low but his face lit up once he saw who it was. "Aspensky!" Drizzlepaw exclaimed. "Uh-huh. That's me." Aspensky grinned. Ever since Rosehip died, her brother, Aspensky, had offered to mentor him. Drizzlepaw and Aspensky weren't as close as Rosehip was with Drizzlepaw, but they still got along. "Can we train today?" Drizzlepaw asked, trying to sound cheerful, he could use some battle training and it would distract him of Rosehip's death. Aspensky's smile dropped. "Sorry Drizzlepaw. Charredstar ordered a battle patrol to RiverClan and I'm a part of the battle patrol. sorry again, next time?" Aspensky meowed, trying not to let his smile falter. Drizzlepaw frowned if there even is a next time. His mind added bitterly. "It's okay" Drizzle sighed. He had a strong forboding. Someone was going to die.

Aspensky began to trot away. Images of a Riverclan cat Drizzlepaw didn't recognize flashed in Drizzlepaw's mind. Their face a blur. The Riverclan cat loomed over Aspensky's bloody body. His mentor's neck was contorted in a horrible, unnatural way. It made Drizzlepaw sick. More terrifying visions bombarded Drizzlepaw's mind. "No! Don't go! I won't let you die!" Drizzlepaw blurted out, rushing forward and grabbed Aspensky by his tail. Aspensky pulled his tail free and sighed, bending down to look into Drizzlepaw's eyes. "I know you must've been frightened by Rosehip's death.. . I was upset too. Everything will be alright." Aspensky said, lowering his voice in a hushed whisper. "I don't believe you! That's what Rosehip said! And where is she now?" Drizzlepaw shouted. "She's dead.." Aspensky answered somberly. It was a rhetorical question. Strange. but that didn't matter now, not when his mentor was walking towards his own death. "Drizzlepaw, I promise." Aspensky meowed. "You have deathberries at the tip of your tongue, Aspensky" Drizzlepaw parroted the line he'd heard older warriors use when a cat was doing something naive or stupid they'd regret later. Drizzlepaw buried his face in his paws. "Hey now, don't lecture me with that old quote! I'm the older warrior here" Aspensky joked and then added on a more serious note "I'll tell you what. You can come on the battle patrol so you can keep an eye on me." Aspensky offered, his tail waving confidently. "So if I'm in danger I can count on the mighty and strong Drizzlepaw to save me." Aspensky grinned mischievously and winked. "Okay." Drizzlepaw sniffed, that made him feel slightly better but he still had his doubts. "But I was there at Rosehip's death. I couldn't save her. What if I can't save you?" Drizzlepaw fretted. "Death is a part of life. It's not a matter of if I will die, but a matter of when" Aspensky said "If Starclan wants me now, then we all must come to accept that." Aspensky trailed off. "But I don't want you to die when you don't have to!" Drizzlepaw wailed. "Calm down please-" Aspensky began, placing his tail tip on Drizzlepaw's shoulder sympathetically but Drizzlepaw shook it off and interrupted him "Please at least try to find sense in what I'm saying. Why are you walking to your death? For StarClan's sake! What are you even fighting for?!" Drizzlepaw hissed. That must have struck a nerve. Aspensky had no answer and stared down at his paws. "What are we fighting for..?" Aspensky echoed. Aspensky shook his head as if to clear his thoughts and settled his gaze on Drizzlepaw. "Charredstar's orders, he must have his reasons. Besides, there's nothing I can do to change that. Let's look at what is happening right now instead of what might happen later. You could drive yourself insane worrying about the future, Drizzlepaw" Aspensky informed him "I've made up my mind a long time ago. If I die defending my clan, then so be it" Aspensky said. "Think about it! You're fighting for nothing! You're fighting for pride and honor that isn't even there!-"Drizzlepaw meowed. "What do you mean? Nevermind, don't answer that! Just stop with this nonsense!" Aspensky snapped, cutting him off but his gaze softened immediately and he lowered his voice. "Even if I did agree with you, what does it matter? It's not like Charredstar would allow me to step down. What's convinced you that I might die anyways?" Aspensky asked, staring at Drizzlepaw. "I've..I've seen these visions.." Drizzlepaw whispered. Drizzlepaw suppressed a sigh of relief when Aspensky didn't accuse him of lying or dismissing the visions as dreams or something. "If these moments really are my last. Then that sucks, I'm sorry, but it's the path we must follow, it's my destiny." Aspensky said infuriatingly calmly. Why is he so calm about this? "Please. At least try. If you die, I'll go up to the sky and drag you down by your tail and then make you eat soggy crow-food laced with mouse bile" Drizzlepaw warned in a last-ditch effort to make Aspensky rethink his choices but Aspensky shook his head.  "Sounds tempting but I can't" Aspensky said thoughtfully
Awkward silence that followed.
