It was awful. Dark. Sad.

The dark lord sent the Carrows and Snape to take over the school and teach us.

They made hs walk with only our houses and in single file lines. If you disobey the new rules they have set out for you, you suffer the consequences.

They took down the tables in the Great Hall and now every time we ate, we either ate standing up or in our rooms.

I hadn't seen Mattheo since that party and I missed him more than anything. I hadn't gone this long without seeing him. I felt awful.

All I wanted to do was drink or be high. I hadn't since I last saw him. I couldn't. I couldn't let myself go there.

"Today—we will be practicing the Cruciatus Curse on our first years." Alecto Carrow said amusingly. That fucking physco.

A few gasps and whispers were heard around the whole Great Hall.

"You will be in a mix of houses, testing your skills on the first years." She continued.

There's no way I'm doing that. Some Slytherins may be okay with doing that, but I'm just not. I wonder what happens if we refuse..

"Parkinson and Granger.."

"Zabini and Potter.."

"Berkshire and Clearwater.."

"Esmeray and Longbottom.." She continued calling out names. Neville Longbottom?

He was pretty shy next to me. He looked..scared? "Hey, Neville." I said softly. "Uh- h-hi." He didn't bother to look at me.

"What?" I furrowed my eyebrows, confused at why he was acting all anxious.

"Nothing. Its just that- are you going to-" he got cut off when one of the Carrows started speaking again, "Each of you get a first year to test on. Start." First years came in lines in front of all of us.

"I'm not hurting them." I looked at Neville slightly offended that he'd think I would do something like that,

"You're not?" He furrowed his brows. "Neville. Just because I'm a Slytherin doesn't mean I'm evil. You've known me since first year. You should know I wouldn't." I whispered.

"I'm sorry. I just haven't spoken to you since.." he said relieved.

"Its all good. Understandable, though." I nodded.

"What are you two doing standing here chatting? Do what you're told!" A Carrow hissed at us. We both stayed silent and glanced at each other realizing that this person wasn't going to leave us alone.

"I can't." Neville looked down. "Of course you can't. You." He pointed at me. "I'm not doing it." I said swallowing the lump in my throat. I can't believe I'd just said that. I was scared, nobody has ever disobeyed the Carrows around here. Neville and I aren't coward enough to listen to them.

"These two ain't listening!" He spat.

"Come here. Both of you!" The Carrow hissed.

"Attention! This is what happens if you don't listen." She snapped for everyones attention up to us.

"Crucio." They hit both me and Neville.

The pain. Again. The worst pain anyone could experience.

A billion blades digging into my skin, a cutting feeling in my insides. It couldn't get worse. It wasn't the actual pain that hurt the most, it was being reminded of who done it.

They lifted the spell and dragged Neville and I to a random classroom by our robes. "This—is what students who don't obey, get." She threw us on the ground and lifted her wand until someone slammed the door open shouting a spell to throw her wand out of her hands.
