I sit in between Spencer and Derek as JJ presents the case.
JJ: Charles Luvet was found floating in a Miami marina last night. Local ME thinks that he was only in the water about an hour.
Aaron: any attempt to weigh the body down?
JJ: doesn't appear to be.
Derek: well; the dumping could be convenient as opposed to a means of hiding the crime.
JJ: well, he's the third victim found in Miami over the last two months. Though the locations of the bodies are different, many of the elements are the same. All males, 25 to 35, all traveling, all asphyxiated with no signs of sexual assault.
Derek: but tourists could mean just simple robbery.
JJ: well, there are some personal items missing.
Rossi: he's targeting travelers for a reason.Just then, Penny walks in.
Penelope: I am so sorry.
Emily: hey. Half day today?
Penelope: I... the alarm, sir, I overslept. I'm so sorry.
Aaron: everyone's allowed to be late. Once.I've been late so many times since I started the BAU and I have never been punished once for it. It's probably because I'm Hotch's favourite.
Penelope: it won't happen again.
Rossi: you guys notice the red flag on the autopsy reports?
Emily: yeah, none of the hyoid bones were fractured.
Aaron: no visual signs of trauma, no ligature marks, yet the Unsub still managed to asphyxiate grown men.
Derek: maybe a chokehold? Wouldn't leave any signs of trauma.
Spencer: it would also be a way of controlling a male. A powerful grip from behind gives the Unsub all the leverage. None of these victims look out of shape or easy to control. In fact, they all look remarkably fit.
JJ: well, all I said, the recovery locations are very different. Charles Luvet was found in the water, Daniel Brown was partially buried in a shallow sand dune, Paul Hayes was stuffed into a dumpster.
Jasmine: that's not much of an effort to hide any of them.
Rossi: they were all found in high-traffic areas.
JJ: Miami PD is asking for our help considering there are currently four other men missing that match this victimology.
Penelope: I can dig up what I can on the victims from their hometowns.
Aaron: Miami is a mecca for potential targets. And anyone traveling is more vulnerable than they normally would be.
JJ: well, case in point, Charles Luvet, the latest victim, he was a vacationing cop.Miami, Florida:
I remove my blazer as I jump out of the SUV.
Spencer: is it always this hot?
Jasmine: yes.
Derek: all day, every day.I notice Derek was staring at me and I roll my eyes.
Spencer: that's not what I'm talking about.
Aaron: he knows.I chuckle at Aaron as a woman approached us.
Lopez: FBI.
Derek: yes.
Lopez: Detective Lopez. Miami PD.
Derek: Derek Morgan.
Lopez: Tina.I watch intently as Derek and Lopez shake hands. I notice a sparkle in Lopez's eyes so I glare at her for a sec.
Lopez: so, thank you for coming down so quickly.
JJ: Agent Jareau, JJ, we spoke on the phone.
Lopez: yes.
JJ: these are agents Hotchner, Prentiss, Rossi, Derek, Avery and Dr. Reid.
Lopez: well, I hope there's no test 'cause I'm lousy with names.
Rossi: "Agent" will be fine.
Emily: hey, isn't that...I look up and I smile when I see a familiar face coming towards us.
Lopez: Detective LaMontagne just arrived from New Orleans to ID the cop they pulled from the bay last night.
JJ: Detective, it's good to see you.
Will: how are you?I had to turn my head away to contain my laugh. The sexual tension between Detective LaMontagne and JJ was so obvious. I'm just waiting for JJ to admit that they're together because it's so obvious.
