I had eventually grown familiar with Moxie's wake-up call. "Up up up! It's a big, big, big day!" she sang in her obnoxious Capitol accent, knocking on my door once again. Every day is a big day in her mind, I thought.

How many days has it been since I was reaped, a week? I realized with a startle that it had only been two days since Moxie uttered the three words that changed my life. Yet, it felt like I was thrown into a hell-like world where time crawled forward in slow-motion when it felt like it was moving so fast.

The exquisite shower beckoned me, and I decided to give it a try. Judging from the loud bangs from yesterday, I'd assume that it would be difficult to figure out.

My assumption was correct.

There was a panel attached to the front of the shower, containing so many colored buttons that they made my head swarm. A light pink button with the label 'on' was the first button of the row, and I pressed it cautiously. A stream of water comes rushing out, splashing on the floor. I jump away in surprise, then turn back to the panel.

Aside from that button, the rest have no indicator of what they do aside from a word or two on the actual panel itself. Under the gold word 'temperature', there were two buttons, one red and one blue. I pushed the red button, and the temperature of the water ticked up ever so slightly. I pushed it again and again, trying to adjust it to a temperature I liked. However, the water became scalding rapidly, and I spammed the blue button, terrified. Of course, the water turned colder than ice in a second. After fiddling around with the temperature a bit longer, I moved to the other options.

There were several pastel-color buttons under the word 'scents', and I pressed a powder blue one to smell the most obnoxious perfume become intermixed with the water. The scent filled the foggy shower, and it became the only thing I could smell.

Desperately, I chose a random shampoo, wanting nothing more than to get out of the shower as quickly as possible. The green 'off' button was next to the pink 'on', and I pressed it before opening the shower door. The fog spilled out like a waterfall, yet thankfully the perfume scent was gone. The mat I was standing on seemed to trigger some machine that began pouring hot air down on my hair, worming its way through my tangled locks and drying it until it shined with an ethereal glow. I breathed a sigh of relief, looking at the shower and finally noticing a reset button in red.

I laughed so hard that my stomach began to ache and I bent over. The single button could have saved me from the commotion that occurred. That's when I heard a noise that made me stop.

The dreadful clicking of Moxie's heels.

I dashed to my room and threw on the training clothes that Aqua left for me on the bed, then tied my hair into a neat ponytail. I twisted the doorknob and came face to face with Moxie, her hand poised to knock sharply at my door.

"There you are. Training begins at 10 a.m. sharp, so eat quickly." She shoved me into the dining room, where Finnick had his feet kicked back, a book in his hands.

"Nice of you to join us."

"Finnick Odair, you get your feet off the table right now! That is mahogany!"
