IT TOOKALL night to get back to D.C. Despite the natural urge to run in the other direction and get as far away from S.H.I.E.L.D. as possible, Steve and Natasha knew that they couldn't. Especially now that they knew HYDRA was never gone but instead hidden as a lethal parasite.
They had to find somewhere to lay low, just until they could come up with some sort of plan for their next move. And Steve only had one other man he could trust who lived in D.C., Sam Wilson.
Sam welcomed the Avengers into his home without hesitation. Even though he knew that hiding three fugitives would most definitely put a deadly target on his back, he was willing to take the chance. He trusted Steve, far more than he trusted the government.
