Derek picked up the girls at school and was heading home....only he realized he couldn't fit the girls in his tiny trailer, so he did the only logical thing that came to mind. He texted Meredith.

D: hey, I know your mad. And you have Every right to be but i have my daughters with me for the night and we can't all fight in the trailer so I was wondering if you'd be open to us staying at the house. I promise they will be quite and they won't take up more than one bedroom. Please consider it Mer. Im sorry. I love you. I should've told you before things for serious between us.

Meredith stared down at her phone reading the text over and over again until she finally came to a conclusion.

M:yes that's fine.

He read the text and his heart did a loop, this would be his first time seeing her since last night, before she stormed out. "Alright girls, where going to go stay at a friend of daddy's tonight."
"Callie?" Eliza asked.
"No not Callie, someone else."
They pulled up in front of her house and the three got out of the car. The girls had there backpacks on with there clothes in them. They left their school ones in Derek's car. Lilly grabbed Eliza's hand when Derek rang the doorbell. Lilly recognized her, she was one of the people who was looking at her earlier.
"Uhhhh....Mer." Christina said eyeing Derek and the two little girls.
Meredith came to the door. Derek smiled but she looked at the ground.
"Come in." She said moving aside to let them in.
Derek let the girls go first, basically having to push Lilly in. "Their bedroom is the first on the left and yours is the first on the right." Meredith said leading them up the stairs. Derek froze, he thought he would be sleeping in her bed with her. "Oh-I-uh-"
Eliza cut him off, "thank you." She said leading Lilly into the room. Leaving Derek and Meredith in the hallway alone. "I-." She cut him off. "Don't."
"Where having an intern game night, we'll try not to be to loud for them." She said motioning towards the girls room. "No it's ok, have your fun." He said smiling. Her eyes once again dropped to the floor and she walked away.

Lilly woke up the next morning with Eliza fast asleep next to her. She checked the old clock on the wall and it said it was 6:45. She knew her father doesn't get up till 7:15 but she wanted to see if anyone was up so she wandered downstairs.
"I know the little one looks like mix of both of em." She heard a male voice say. "Yeah but their cute." Said a female. "But their his. They are just like him, or at least the older one, Eliza, is." That was Meredith, she recognized her voice from the night they met.
She slowly made her way into the kitchen and all 4 pairs of eyes fell on her. "Oh um-." A blonde lady said. Lilly stood there wide eyed at the group of young interns. "I saw you guys westerday. Looking at me." She blurted out. A guy bursted out laughing. "Shut up Karev." The woman who opened the door said, "what does shut up mean?" Lilly asked. "Great now you've got Shepherd's kid learning shut up, Hey daddy Shepard, shut up." The man mocked. Lilly just stood there staring at the adults. Meredith came over and bent down in front of her, "hi my names Meredith, and that's Izzy." she said pointing to the blonde who gave her a wave. "That's George." She said pointing to a half asleep boy, "and that's Christina and Alex." She said pointing to the to adults fighting. "My names Lilly. Do you know my daddy?" She asked. "I-uh-I do know your daddy." Meredith said staring into her eyes, his eyes. "I saw you, one-two." She stared counting on her fingers, "two nights ago!!" She exclaimed. "Nice counting." Izzy said. "I'm in first grade." Lilly said. "What grade are you in Mewedith?" Lilly asked. "I'm not in grades anymore, I work." She said. "I'm an intern."
"What's an intern?" Lilly asked.
"An intern is someone who starts working a job, then once they do that job for a certain amount of time they can become a resident, or and attending. Like your daddy." Meredith said. "You should be like my daddy and work on brains. It's cool." Lilly said. "See even the kid thinks you should drop Cardio." Alex said nudging Christina. Lilly just stared at them with wide eyes. "Do you know my mommy? She works on babies." Lilly said. The five interns fell silent, "I don't know your mom." Meredith said. "Oh." Lilly said. Lilly let out a yawn, "my daddy's friend said she doesn't like interns so I guess that means she doesn't like you." Lilly said talking to the group. "Who's your dads friend?" Alex asked. "Callie."
Alex snorted, "O'Malley, your own girlfriend doesn't like you." He said laughing. George turned red.

Derek woke up and it was 7:10. He went to check on Eliza and Lilly. He opened the door but Eliza was the only one in the bed. He heard conversation in the kitchen so he made his way downstairs. Someone ruffled Lilly's hair and she looked up to see her dad. She smiled at him, "I'm sorry. Was she bothering you." He said. "No she's so cute." Izzy said smiling towards the little girl. "Lilly go wake up your sister and get ready for school." Derek said sending the little girl upstairs. The room fell silent, "we'll give you some space." Izzy said dragging George, Alex, and Christina out with her. Leaving Meredith and George together alone. Before Christina left she gave Meredith a look but Meredith nodded head reassuring Christina.

"So." Derek said shuffling his feet. "Mer-." She cut him off, "no. Don't try to sweet talk me Derek, you have a wife and two amazing little girls. You thought that because you came here you could start fresh with a wide eyed intern. That's not how it works Derek, I already have enough going on I don't need my boyfriends family coming in on my life."
Derek looked up and met her eyes. "Meredith."
"What."
"I should've told you about Addison and the girls, but when I met you, you where my breath of fresh air. I was drowning in the fact that my wife had just cheated on me with my best friend. I was scared, embarrassed that I left my children with her. But when I met you, everything was better, you made me forget about Addison. I loved you. I still do." He said. She stood there staring into his ocean blue eyes. "Derek." She trailed off, "I love you to." She said. She ran into his arms and their lips smashed together. "I missed you." He said. She giggled. "I missed you to."
