Meredith was walking through the hallways of Grey-Sloan as she felt completely exhausted

"Grey! I need you here!" Bailey yelled

"Coming!" Meredith yelled and ran towards Bailey. She was out of breath from running the small distance "Good evening, sir. Can you tell me what's going on?" Meredith asked as she checked the man's chart

"My stomach hurts" The man groaned

"Okay. Be careful, I'll have to touch your stomach. Just tell me when it hurts" Meredith warned and started exploring the man's stomach to find the cause of his pain, easily found when he started whining in pain "Okay, sir. Doctor Edwards will bring you to CT" Meredith said and leaned against the wall once the patient was wheeled out of the room

"Hey, are you doing okay?" Derek walked up to her

"Hmm.. Just tired" She forced a smile

"I didn't expect you to be back this early" Derek frowned and checked if she felt warm

"My fever was gone, I stopped puking and I've been hydrating myself" Meredith smiled

"Hmm" Derek frowned

"Derek.." Meredith sighed "How have you and Rose been?" She asked

"We're getting a divorce.. We've been fighting all week at work. We don't wanna fight in front of Ellis" Derek explained

"Thanks for taking her despite your situation" Meredith said as she yawned "I didn't want her to get sick as well"

"No worries. Do you wanna take her tonight?" Derek asked Meredith

"I'd love to. But I'm gonna go lay down for an hour now" Meredith breathed and walked away to find an on call room

A few hours later Meredith woke up but felt still exhausted. Her body was stiff when she tried to turn her body a bit. She checked the time and decided she really needed to get up and check some patients before she'd get ready to leave.

Meredith yawned as she pushed the blankets away and sat up. She put her shoes on and tightened them. She pushed herself up and left the room

"Doctor Grey?" A nurse asked

"Yes Linda?" Meredith walked towards her

"I was wondering if you'd wanna check on the patient in room 1550. She's been very restless because she can't see her son" Linda spoke up

"Thank you, I'll go check on her" Meredith nodded and walked away to the patient's room

Meredith yawned again as she made her way over and knocked on the door

"Good evening, can I come in?" Meredith smiled and did her job. She checked out the patient's wounds and the stitches she had gotten "I heard you wanna see your son" Meredith quietly started

"Can I please see him?" She asked

"I'm sorry, not today. Your wounds need to stay sterile for a bit. If your wound is clean tomorrow you can see him" Meredith smiled

"Thank you, doctor" The woman breathed "Do you have kids?" She asked

"I do" Meredith proudly smiled "A daughter, she's six. Turns seven in a few months"

"I bet you're proud of her" The patient smiled

"I am" Meredith giggled and finished the exam "Try to rest a lot tonight so you're strong enough to see your son in the morning" Meredith smiled and put the blankets again over the woman's body "Bye!"

Meredith walked towards the residents' room to get changed into her casual clothes and grabbed her purse. She grabbed her phone, checked if she had any missed messages and eventually made her way over to daycare

"Mama!" She heard her daughter once the girl thad spotted her

"Monkey!" Meredith smiled and opened her arms

"I've missed you" Ellis breathed. She hadn't seen her mother when Meredith was sick. They had face-timed but the girl missed her mother's hugs

"I've missed you too, baby" Meredith kissed Ellis' head softly

"Can we have ice cream?" Ellis asked with big eyes "Rose doesn't like ice cream but daddy and I went to get some anyway" The girl giggled

"We're gonna have a huge bowl of ice cream after dinner, what do you think?" Meredith asked the girl

"Yes yes yes!" Ellis jumped up and down

"Now let's go" Meredith laughed and grabbed her daughter's hand

"Daddy and I have been doing tricks on the trampoline!" Ellis told her mother

"Really? Who has the best tricks?" Meredith chuckled

"Daddy helps me but I have the best tricks" Ellis giggled

"I bet!" Meredith giggled and helped her daughter into the car and got buckled in. "Now let's go home" Meredith smiled and got in as well

They drove home. They lived in Ellis Grey's old house. Meredith lifted Ellis out of the car and walked her daughter inside the house

"What sheets are on my bed?" Ellis gasped and ran inside

"Your favorite" Meredith giggled as she watched her daughter run upstairs "I'm gonna heat up our pizzas" Meredith laughed. She knew Derek didn't like her giving pizza to her daughter but it didn't hurt for once. She just hates cooking, especially when she isn't feeling 100% "Ellis?"

"Coming!" The girl ran back downstairs

"Come on, let's get the table ready" Meredith ordered

"I'm starving! Is the pizza almost ready?" Ellis jumped up and down as they finished putting the plates and cutlery on the table

"Almost" Meredith laughed "Patience, El. Patience" Meredith couldn't stop giggling
