"Mer? Meredith?!" Alex ran in the house

"Uncle Alex!" He heard Ellis scream

"Shh, it's okay, El" Meredith held her daughter in her arms

"What happened?" Alex asked as he opened the door and saw Meredith on the floor

"I- I don't know- My legs-" Meredith looked up at him in fear, finally breaking her facade she was trying to hold up for her daughter

"It's okay. It's okay. Ellis, can you put on your shoes and jacket? Wait downstairs, we'll be there in a minute. Promise" Alex said and watched Ellis nod and run downstairs, grabbing her Fluffy on the way out

"I don't feel them. I didn't feel my fingers earlier" Meredith frowned

"What are you thinking?" Alex asked as he grabbed Meredith a sweater

"Brain tumor? I don't know either, Alex" A desperate Meredith spoke up

"I'm gonna lift you up, we're going to the ER" Alex said and scooped her up in his arms

"I'm ready" Ellis quietly said

"Okay monkey, let's go to the car" Alex said and lifted Meredith into the car "Come on, Ellie. Let's get in" Alex helped Ellis get buckled in and drove off

Meredith was very quiet. She was scared for what was about to happen

"Can we see mommy?" Ellis whined as she sat with Alex in the waiting room

"No, monkey" Alex tried to calm her down "Bailey is examining her, just to make sure everything is okay" Alex smiled

"When will daddy be here?" Ellis quietly asked

"He said he would be here soon" Alex rubbed her back "Do you wanna watch something on my phone?"

"No" The girl muttered and hugged her knees against her chest "I wanna see mommy" She whispered

"I know, monkey" Alex sighed and watched as the little girl hugged her stuffed bunny and held it under her chin

"Ellis?" They heard Derek's voice

"Daddy!" Ellis yelled and ran into his arms

"Hey monkey, what's the emergency? Did you hurt yourself?" Derek frowned as he checked out the little girl

"M-Mommy-" Ellis cried in his arms

"What's wrong with Meredith?" Derek looked up at Alex

"Mer called this morning, her legs gave out. I went over to her house, she was on the floor and told me her hands and feet have been numb a few times lately. So I brought her in, she needs to be examined" Alex explained and was unable to hide the concern in his voice

"I'm gonna check on her" Derek sternly said and walked into the examination room "What's going on here?" He asked with a frown

"I want an MRI of her brain, now" Tom ordered

"What the hell is going on?" Derek asked again

"Watch Ellis. It's fine" Meredith quietly asked him

"Bailey- What the hell is wrong with her?" Derek asked the woman

"Derek.. Tom wants to take her for scans, he's scared there's a tumor" Bailey sighed

"Oh-" He gasped and nodded

"Go sit with Alex and your daughter. We'll tell you if we have results" Bailey encourages her to leave

"Please.. Can Alex stay with her? She can't be by herself. Not while these tests are being performed" Derek spoke up and was relieved when Bailey agreed

Meredith was being loaded into the MRI machine when she heard Alex' voice through the intercom

"I'm here, Mer" Alex said "I'm staying" He whispered

They all kept quiet until the scans came up and they all sighed in relief

"No tumor?" Bailey frowned

"No tumor" Tom assured them

"No tumor" Alex laughed in relief and ran out of the room into the room where Meredith was being loaded out of the MRI "It's clear. Your scans are clear" He smiled before the doctors walked into the room

"Meredith, I wanna perform a spinal tap" Tom immediately said

"What do you think is wrong?" Meredith asked but got no reply, instead the medical team lifted her onto a hospital bed and they officially admitted her now "Can someone answer me?" She asked worriedly and saw Tom grabbing his pen. He poked in her leg a few times but there was no response, in the palms of her hands she was barely responsive as well

"I don't know, Grey. You seem to have paralysis in some parts of your body, I'm thinking of several conditions." Tom said and put his pen back in his pocket

"I wanna see Ellis first." Meredith whispered "I need my daughter!"

"Grey-" Tom tried to stop her

"I need to see her!" Meredith firmly said

"I'll go get her really quick" Alex promised her

"Thanks" Meredith whispered and closed her eyes. She felt Bailey stroking her hand over her head but she didn't wanna respond. If she would respond she would cry and she can't cry, her daughter needs her

Alex returned a few minutes later with Derek who was carrying a sleepy Ellis

"Mama!" Ellis smiled

"Hey baby" Meredith weakly opened her arms

Derek placed their daughter down in Meredith's arms

"Mommy, is everything okay?" Ellis yawned

"Yes. I'm just a bit sick so they'll do some tests. You'll have to stay with daddy for a few days" Meredith kissed Ellis' head "Be good for daddy, okay?"

"Promise" Ellis nodded her head as she slowly fell asleep

"It will be okay. I'll call tonight" Derek wanted to hug her, he wanted to hold her

"Take good care of her" Meredith whispered and watched as Derek lifted their daughter back into his arms

"I will. Now rest and let them do their jobs, promise me to take care of yourself" Derek wanted to cry but he had to compose himself

"I'll be fine" Meredith softly sighed
