" my dad said i would have to attend school starting this year"  hoseok says as he gripped on the rope that holds the little makeshift tire-swing, hyunwoo lightly pushing him from behind.

hoseok sounded a little  sad and worried which hyunwoo did not really expect. the other had expressed his want to go to school and make many friends several times before. he assumed he'd be thrilled with the news.

" i think it's because mom's condition is getting bad..." he trailed off sadly, placing his feet down on the ground to stop the swing from moving, hyunwoo helping him out by holding both sides of the big tire. " they don't say, but i hear her coughing and complaining to dad about her chest pains more often at night"

hyunwoo sat crisscrossed on the grass infront of hoseok, a little unsure of what to say. he wanted to comfort his friend, but didn't know how to. he realized that hoseok was not looking forward to be enrolled because it meant his mother was not in her best feet. mrs. lee is too sick to do much like she used to.

"do you think the other kids will be nice? " hoseok asks before hyunwoo could think of a reply. diverting the subject away from his mother's condition. though he was the one to open it up, he didn't really wanna talk about it.

" well, we know for a fact mrs.kang's grandchildren won't" hyunwoo answered, picking on the grass and thinking about the siblings that lives a couple of house away. the two of them played with the demon twins once and never again after. sweet hoseok and quiet hyunwoo not liking them already tells what kind of personalities they might have.

" i don't think they're our age " hoseok said, indirectly saying they have nothing to worry about as they'll probably won't be classmates with the two.

hyunwoo did not say anything back, prompting hoseok to start talking about his and his father's visit at the im's tailor shop as he carefully got off the swing and sat on the grass copying hyunwoo. his friends is always quiet, which leads him to be the one to keep the conversation most of the time. hoseok didn't really mind as he do enjoys talking quite a bit.

" dad and i had our measurements taken at the ims the other day. i played with their son, changkyun, he's a little weird tho"

hyunwoo thought for awhile recalling the said boy's face in his head. he now knows changkyun was actually the im's youngest. still, he had never had the chance to talk to him so he knows nothing more than that.

" he avidly believes in aliens but thinks magic is not real " hoseok continued talking about the boy with a frown on his face, like he couldn't compherehend how someone could say there's no such thing as magic. he's a big fan of fairytales and miracles that every night he prays he'd meet a genie or a kind fairy  who would grant his wish of making his mom healthy again. his grandma though had always told him fairies aren't like how they know them from fairytale books, claiming that they are baneful.

"..he showed me his binoculars which he uses to spy on the forest. he thinks ufos has landing stations there. he claimed that he once saw beams of lights and stuff"

" the forest? where would they land there?" hyunwoo asked. he'd been to the forest a lot of times with his father, helping around at getting firewood or when the man would teach him how to hunt. with his memory of how the forest looks, he don't think there's a good enough space for big spaceships to land there. at least, not without the town knowing. the forest is not that far, surely one of two would see. and with how news spreads in their place, it won't be a secret once one does. but then again, hyunwoo has not ventured every inch of the woods to know exactly.
