Warnings: lemon, slight angst, minor spoilers from Marineford arc to Fish-Man Island.

The story takes place after Fish-Man Island and before Punk Hazard.

After crossing the Red Line across the ocean floor, straight from Fish-Man Island, the Straw Hats finally arrived in the New World, the territory of the four Emperors.

After all that confusion on Fish-Man Island, everyone needed to recharge their energies for the next adventure. And with that in mind, the pirate crew found a summer island, perfect to relax a little and be able to restock the Sunny.

The final decision was made, all the Straw Hats would stay on the island while Luffy, after exploring the island, would keep watch on the ship.

Luffy jumped up, just waking up from a nightmare, nightmare of... Marinford... Ace... His heart pounding against his chest and his breathing labored. Luffy shook his head trying to get those thoughts away and stood up, picking up his hat and heading to his special seat.

He sat on the Sunny's head, observing his surroundings, the sea was quite calm, the night in a very pleasant temperature and the sky clear with bright stars and a beautiful waning moon in the sky.

Luffy with his observation haki felt the presence of another person on the ship, the footsteps getting louder, indicating that whoever it was was close. He recognized that presence;  it was (Y/n). But, what would she be doing here?

He popped out of Sunny's head and saw (Y/n) carrying a big picture and a bag hanging on her side. Oh sure, obviously the artist on the crew would carry these things around. She looked up meeting Luffy's gaze.

"Huh? Luffy? What are you doing awake?" She asked, "What are you doing here?" He answered her question with another question, "The night is beautiful today, so I came here to paint the sky. How about you?" She said as she put her bag and painting on the floor.

Luffy was about to come up with some lame excuse but, she was (Y/n) his girlfriend, but she was also his best friend and they didn't have any secrets from each other, they promised. And after two years they were finally back together, so why lie now?

"I had a nightmare." Luffy admitted, "What was it about?" She asked, "Two years ago. Ace." (Y/n) frowned, "Aw Luffy." She hugged him, Luffy didn't hesitate to hug her back tightly, "Ace might not be here anymore, but I am. I'm here whenever you need me. You know I'm still the same person I was two years ago." (Y/n) said.

Luffy smiled, "Yeah, you're still the person I fell in love with." (Y/n) laughed and pulled away from the hug, "I'll stay here with you." She said sitting down on the floor, Luffy sat next to her, "Aren't you going to do a painting?" He asked, "Yeah, but I can do that another time. You're more important." She gave a big smile with her eyes closed. Luffy couldn't help but smile with that smile he loved so much.

"It's been a while since we've just sat down somewhere to talk. Lately it's been quite hectic." (Y/n) commented and Luffy nodded, "Uhm, it's been a while." After that silence dominated the air, but it wasn't an awkward silence, it was a very comfortable silence actually.

"I'm glad things aren't different than they used to be. I thought things would get weird between everyone. But, we carry on like we never parted." She said while admiring the starry sky, "That doesn't surprise me. I mean, we've always been a team. And that even time can't change, can it?" Luffy laughed, "You're right." She laughed along with him.
