Thank you so much everyone for all the love and support so far given - now this chapter is on the more emotional side but don't worry soon we get to the happy chapters - enjoy!!!

The return journey back to Beacon Hills seemed to be longest flight for all of those on board as they battle to keep Stiles alive; hope was dwindling as the minutes passed without any change in Stiles's condition. The heart rate monitor still loudly doing a long one tone beep as CPR was alternated between those around him as Parrish continued to squeeze air into the tube now down Stiles's throat.

"Pulse check." Morgan states stopping compressions for the fifth round he had completed, with each passing round fear was seeping in that they were unable to get him back.

Rafael leaned from his position and placed two fingers on Stiles's neck as everyone waited hoping for the news they all wanted to hear but the gentle head shake from him instead broke the seal for them all. Parrish started pumping the bag once again but this time no one moved to start compression or a shot of adrenaline.

"Come on, we are not losing him now." Parrish begged them all as tears streamed down his face and dripping on top of the head of the young man losing his fight to survive.

"Jordan, we can't. Right now, we are just punishing his body; hasn't he been through enough already? I'm sorry but he is gone." Hotch states as the sobs start echoing out from Brenda, Frypan and Gally at their fallen friend and hero; losing Newt had been hard enough but to know he was alive, and Thomas is gone was just too much for them.

"We are two minutes out from Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital." Jorge advises from the pilot's seat as the Berg rattled with the start of the slow decent down, getting ready to land.

"Please. We are two minutes out from Melissa, Dr Geyer and Stiles's family, just two more minutes of help we can give him, it may just be enough support for him to return to us." Rafael begs and pleads at the group as Parrish continues to provide oxygen while hoping someone carries on with the CPR at least until they land.

"Even if we could get him back right now, he has been down for too long. The Stiles we get back may not be the one we knew; there is a high chance that he may never wake up. Do you really want to torture everyone like that or even him?" Reid advises his head running through all the potential defects and stats he has present in his head to support what he is saying.

"The Stiles we knew is already gone and never coming back, WCKD took care of that. However, if I can get Thomas or whatever form of Stiles he is right now, back to those who care about him most then I will be able to look into his father's and my son's face knowing I did everything I could." Rafael states moving Morgan out of the way and restarting the compressions as the Berg jittered as they descended through the clouds towards the helicopter pad onto of the roof of the Hospital.

As the wheels touchdown on the roof and the engines powered down a sound they had hoped to hear started ringing out around the plane. Rafael paused the compressions as Parrish continued pressing the bag to give much needed oxygen to Stiles.

"Is that what I think it is?" Rafael cried in relief looking at the machine as he watches with the others the numbers steadily grower higher with each pump of the bag and beat of Stiles's heart/

"Affirmative, we have a heartbeat. Parrish keep providing him air, he isn't fighting against the tube so he maybe back but isn't out of the woods yet." Hotch states before hitting the button to open up the back of the Berg; Melissa and Dr Geyer along with a group of medical professionals waiting to support.

"Oh my god, Stiles!" Melissa gasps a hand going to her mouth as Dr Geyer moves forward to quick assess his condition before ordering the gurney to be moved in swiftly.

"Through and through GSW to mid torso, entry via ribs along with a similar exit placement; shallow stab wound to the heart area. Patient crashed with no pulse for just under ten minutes with it returning as wheels hit the ground, not fighting against intubation and pupils are sluggish and almost fully fixed. Smoke inhalation along with around 5-10 surface burns on arms along with wounds caused by broken glass shards; recommend blood transfusion also once stable enough." Reid rattles out as they move Stiles's gently onto the gurney with the machines and Parrish moving with him still providing the much-needed oxygen.

"Robertson, prepare the CT scanner for incoming then prep an OR; he needs switching to machine ventilation as we are unable to continue manual version while he is in the CT scanner. We need to repair any damage and try to stabilise him as soon as possible and I also need a large quantity of blood and platelets on standby. Go!" Dr Geyer commands as the Nurse Robertson races off to prepare as the rest of the team along with Parrish take Stiles inside as Dr Geyer turns towards the frozen Melissa been comforted by Rafael, who looks just as pale.

"Melissa, I have this, I will do everything in my power to save him, but you can't be in there. You are too emotional right now to focus correctly, go to Noah and Scott provide them with the update and wait with them. I will find you as soon as I can." Dr Geyer advises as Melissa does a slow nod before he walks away swiftly; Melissa composes herself enough to guide the group down from the roof and in the direction of the family and relative room.

Vince, Jorge and Brenda decided to head with Emily and Rossi to the Safe Haven that had been arranged; Vince understood Aris and the others would be anxiously waiting on news about whether it had been a successful mission or not, Gally decided to accompany them also as he was feeling uneasy whether he would be welcome or not.

After a quick round of hugs and promises to contact as soon as they had any news, the remained of the group headed into the family and friend's room; inside already were Garcia, Lydia, Noah, Scott, Derek. Once a round of hugs and greeting were exchanged everyone settled into a chair and the wait for news began; several times Scott or Noah open their mouths as though going to speak but quickly closed it as though changing their mind.

"How's Newt?" Rafael breaks the silence first, hoping that who ever answers doesn't just give a one-word answer and allows for a conversation to begin even if they go off subject at some point.

"No change the last we heard, the knife wound wasn't too deep, so they managed to clean it out and place some stitches in to help with the healing. The infection seems to be continuing to disappear, but they are keeping him isolated for now until they know more; however, they are saying Parrish your quick actions saved his life for now." Noah states his voice sounding rough as though he hadn't spoken in months instead of a few hours.

"What's the prognoses?" Hotch enquires as he understood the emotional impact this would have on Stiles should he wake up with Newt gone forever.

"Unclear currently, they advised they need to wait for him to wake up; if he wakes up." Derek answers as everyone can feel each other skirting around the question Noah has been wanting to ask since everyone arrived in the room.

"Is Stiles.....alive?" Lydia asks her voice shaking and stuttering as she asks, Garcia grips hold of her hand as a show of comfort and a grounding surface for Lydia to hold onto.

"There were some major complications but yes at the moment we handed him over to Melissa and Dr Geyer he was alive in the sense his heart was beating." Reid states his words chosen carefully as to not given any false hope to those present in the room.

"What does that even mean?" Scott asks with tears swimming in his eyes as he looked towards his Dad for comfort and clarification.

"It means we had to fight really hard to get him back; to the point we were moments away from calling his time of death before Parrish and Rafael asked us to give him one more try. When we handed him over, he wasn't breathing on his own and his eyes were almost fully fixed and unresponsive." Morgan advises looking towards Garcia as he spoke, reaching his own hand and placing it on her shoulder while he spoke.

"I'm sorry to say, we have may have saved his body but there is a chance it is just an empty shell right now."
