Chapter 21: A Day to Remember

Undisclosed Location in the Maroon Sea Cluster

March seventh...

It was the Master Chief's birthday.

Chief was just sitting in his room, since he didn't have anything to do, except wait for The Council. He hates waiting. But then again, he has other things to do now until they call upon him again.

Cortana told Chief that he should hang out with the crew a bit since it's his birthday, and should help speed up time.

It was when he thought of something. Chief and his crew have to find Dr. Saleon before Saren does. He has to help Wrex with his family armor issue, and he has to deliver the Geth Information to Tali, which Cortana just finished copying.

Chief then thought of a plan for what to do. He'll deliver the information first, they find Saleon next, then get Wrex's armor last.

Get the important task done first.

He then leaves his room to help Tali, that way he can get it behind him. Then he'll have Joker head to Saleon as soon as possible.

He then sees Joe having dinner, since it was near the end of the day.

The SPARTAN-IV then noticed him, and waved at him. "Hey Chief, Happy Birthday."

Chief then froze at what he said.

How did he know it was his birthday? ONI was quiet for his history.

"You know it was my Birthday?"

"Yea. After you were declared M.I.A., ONI showed more of your history in the National Museum in Washington." Joe explained.

"I see... Thank you." Chief nodded at him, while Joe gave a thumbs up and continued to eat his dinner.

He didn't know that people knew what his Birthday was today. This was very new.

One minute later...

He then made his way down to the garage, as everyone was doing their own thing like usual.

The SPARTAN-II then made it to the core room where the Quarian was doing her tasks.

Tali turns around to notice the Chief, she calms herself a bit, still thinking about what Joe said a few days ago.

"Chief, what can I do for you?"

He then holds out his hand with the information chip. "The copy of the Geth Information I grabbed on Feros. Just as promised."

Tali looked at it for a second, then slowly grabbed it. Knowing that this will help her people and her father.

"Thank you, Chief. This means a lot to me and my people." Tali said in a thankful tone. "I don't know how to repay you."

"Anytime Tali."

Chief was about to leave, until suddenly Tali hugged him, showing her gratitude to him. He didn't know how to handle this, since he hasn't had a hug in a long time.

"I am in your debt." Tali then ended the hug, as Chief was stunned from what just happened.

He then got his head straight and nodded at her. He then leaves the room while Tali goes back to her post for a bit.

She then thought of what Joe said a few days ago about her feelings for the Chief.

'You like him, don't you?'

Joe's voice echoed inside her head.

"Hmmmm..."

Talis begins to blush like crazy under her helmet, not knowing what is happening to her. She doesn't feel sick or anything, and it can't be that she has feelings for Chief...

Right?

Back on the second floor...

Chief then returns to the second floor of the ship, ready to tell Joker to head to the coordinates for Dr. Saleon. He was still shocked from Tali's hug a bit ago, since he was not used to that.

He got his head straight, and continued his walk to Joker's location.

Suddenly, the Intercom went on, it was Joker.

"Chief, the Council wants to talk to you. Sounds like they might have another lead on Saren."

"Understood, Joker."

Chief then makes his way to the COMM room on the first floor.

Once he arrives, he turns on the communications so he could talk to the Council. Only Tevos and Valern were on the call. Sparatus wasn't on, which was good since he's an ass.

"Master Chief, we just received word that we have found Matriarch Benezia." Tevos notified.

Finally, another lead on Saren. This will help a lot since she is Saren's right hand.

"Where is she now?" Chief asked.

"We believe she's on Noveria. It's an ice planet, but full of businesses." Valern explained. "She might be making deals to help Saren and his Army."

"We'll catch her, councilors."

"We have faith in you, Spartan. Good luck." Tevos said, as the two council members left the COMM.

Chief then turns on the ship's intercom to talk to Joker.

"Joker, how far are we from Noveria?"

"Not far, Chief. Should take us a day to get to." Joker replied, already putting the coordinates to the planet.

"Understood, get us there as soon as you can."

Chief then turns off the COMM, and heads to his room for some rest.

He's getting close to stopping Saren...

Sorry if the chapter was short a bit, but it was very hard to write out a chapter for Chief's birthday.

But at least I began on the Tali Romance. I'm still not gonna make it as big yet, because I'm still trying to develop Chief's relationship with his crew. So it will take more time, most likely until Mass Effect 2, like in the original. Besides that, I got started on it, at least for Tali mostly.
