Today, as the woman had told me on the phone, was my orientation, So I blindly followed the address that she told me to write down, when I arrived there the first thing that hit me was the smell, the sharp smell of chemicals and burning iron, It was a smell that lingered, that seeped into your clothes like cigarette smoke.
The building itself was massive it covered more than my peripheral view and I had to turn my head to see its full size.
It consisted of a large square middle building with two smaller buildings on each side shaped almost like hockey pucks.

Behind the two hockey puck buildings were glass domes that looked quite large and impressive lined with copper and gleaming pink from the inside.
The entrance doors reminded me of two giant chocolate bars each crafted from rich mahogany, unlike chocolate bars they were a deep brown colour with a reddish hue.

from the outside there were no visible signs of anyone else there, not even a janitor or a window cleaner, I was alone with my thoughts listening to the hissing and purring sounds of brass pipes and flowing liquids.
Begrudgingly, I walked up the steps to the door, the entrance was quite intimidating, it kinda reminded me of Renata in a way, tall and threatening. As I got closer to the door I could start to hear voices from the inside, part of me felt shocked that there were people inside considering how much of a ghost town the outside seemed like.

Placing my hand on the door handle I felt my nervousness finally hit me like a truck, the fact that I wasn't just walking into an empty building was nerve-wracking, to say the least. But alas time was catching up to me, and I didn't want to be late for my first real job.

as I opened the door I felt cold air burst onto my skin, it felt like a cold sweaty hand slapping me. like a lost puppy, my mouth hung agape as I looked around the building in awe.

the building was seemingly bigger on the inside than the outside, its copper-plated cobblestone walls and warm industrial lighting gave off a cosy but still professional look. long thin maroon carpets lay in long lines along each corridor like ribbons on a present. the second floor as I could see was even visible from where I was standing, with large hanging walkways that lined the walls.

unlike the first floor, there were many people populating the second floor, walking hurriedly along the halls and some in groups talking amongst each other. surprisingly among the suited men and women were a few thugs, stalking along the corridors, they looked like the thugs that Renata would bring to the bar as bodyguards.

the room I was standing in looked like the lobby of the building, in the middle of the room was a large curved mahogany bureau at which a small blonde woman was sitting, she seemed to be completely enamoured in a phone conversation she was having, even waving her hands around to accentuate her words, despite my distance I could catch a few words she was saying:

"what you do with the body is not my problem," with one hand she clumsily flipped over a page on the book in front of her, "Take your money and leave Jass, I'm not gonna hold your hand-" I came to a realization that the cheery voice I heard on the phone was belonging to the woman in front of me. "And you're coming to me with this?" her tone was increasingly becoming more and more frustrated, "I-I can't be weak like this anymore-" suddenly she stopped talking and placed a hand on the receiver.

"Can I help you...?" she spat, looking up at me obviously irritated, with one hand she slammed the receiver down ending the call.

"I'm Y/N, h-here for the job..." she put the phone back down and flipped back a page in the book

"you're a bit early..." she wrote something down in the book, "it's ok though, I guess ill have more time to get you used to the place,"

"Like, a tour?"
