CLEO'S HANDS WERE TREMBLING as she concentrated on levitating the heavy debris scattered around the city. Adrenaline still pumped through her blood even though the fight had already ended and they had come out victorious. Her hands were cold and clammy, and the unsettling feeling in the pit of her stomach remained there. She could feel her heart pounding inside her ribcage, her breaths were shallow, and her mind still processing it all―she had fought aliens, dealt with gods, and watched her dad fly through a wormhole and almost not make it out alive. The latter being the main cause of her shakiness.
Cleo swore her heart had stopped beating twice in the span of minutes. Once when Tony flew through the big wormhole in the Manhattan sky with a nuclear missile on his back. And twice when Tony free fell unconsciously out of the portal.
"I got a nuke coming in, it's gonna blow in less than a minute. And I know just where to put it." As her eyes trailed to the sky and caught sight of Tony's suit, the missile on his back was barely noticeable from afar, but Cleo saw it. And she felt like throwing up.
