The next day, Valerie woke up with a headache, she examined her surroundings. She walked in to Diego and Ben arguing.
"Hey!" Valerie yelled
They all turned to look at her, Five looked relieved.
"You guys done? The universe is disappearing outside. So you can keep rearranging the deck chairs of the titanic if it makes you feel better. But the fact remains, that we are too late" Valerie spoke
Five smiled at her.
"Five, come on" Luther scoffed
Luther treated Valerie like garbage now for being an Umbrella.
"It's over, Luther. We failed" Five agreed
"Come on, it can't be over over" Viktor said
"Yeah come on, Five. We gotta figure this out man" Diego spoke
"Okay, how about we take a step back? Look at the big picture here, most of us have spent the last 28 days trying to stop the world from ending. What exactly have we accomplished?" Five asked
They all stayed quiet.
"Well, we made some friends along the way" Luther smiled
"Incorrect, you know what we've done? Nothing, we made things worse every single time" Five said
"Amen to that" Allison agreed
"Look, when I went to the commission. I had a conversation with my 100 year old self, and my last words were 'don't save the world'" Five said
"Don't save the world?" Viktor asked
"Don't save the world" Five nodded
"That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard" Diego commented
"Is it? Well, whatever we're doing's not working. All we ever do is save the world for a day, pat ourselves in the back, and then everything goes to shit again" Luther ranted
"Yeah, maybe we're the problem" Viktor assumed
"Oh yeah. Us" Allison scoffed
"So wait, your big plan is.. no plan?" Lila asked
"Exactly, conscientious objection. Why the hell not? We tried everything else" Five said
They all looked shocked.
"Look, maybe this is what the universe just needs. I say embrace the apocalypse, see what's on the other side" Five said
"What if it's.. nothing?" Sloane asked
"Then it's been nice knowing you all" Five replied
They all stayed silent. Valerie walked up to him.
"Whatever is on your bucket list, I recommend you do that now" Five said
Five and Valerie sat down nearby.
"Well, on that.. super happy note" Luther began
Sloane and Luther sat up.
"We've got um" He said
The two looked at each other and laughed, Valerie cringed at the two. She prayed she didn't look like the two around Five.
"We've uh, got a little announcement to make, we're engaged" The couple announced
No one took the news lightly.
"Now?" Allison asked
"Yeah. Look we realize the timing is less than ideal. But obviously, it's now or never , am I right Five?" Luther said
