Meredith was crying. Her emotions were all over the place. She couldn't express herself and was upset

All day had been spent in therapy, trying to talk, trying to adjust to the things that had been taken from her by her mother's actions

"Meredith?" Richard asked as he walked into the room "Meredith sweetie, are you okay?" He asked but the girl shook her head

He slowly walked towards her and kneeled down in front of her, brushing some hairs from her tear stained face

"Fred told me you had a hard time but I know something to cheer you up. Carolyn suggested we visit so you can play with her kids" Richard explained and saw Meredith slowly lifting up her head "Would you wanna go?" He asked and she nodded her head

Meredith wasn't just stubborn for not talking. She felt weird, as if she was speaking a different language and no one could understand her

"Let's go" Richard lifted her in his arms, the girl had fallen asleep before he'd reached the car as the girl was totally exhausted

...

"Richard, Meredith!" Carolyn smiled as she opened the door

"H-Hi" Meredith muttered

"Hi sweetheart. How have you been doing?" Carolyn asked and rubbed the girl's back

"Kay" She whispered

"We're so proud of you" Carolyn smiled

"Mer, baby. Would it be okay if you stay with Carolyn for a bit? I need to go do some grown up people stuff" Richard asked her

"Back? C-Come back?" Meredith quietly asked as her eyes widened in fear

"Of course, sweetie. I'm going to return, I will always return" Richard promised

"Kay" Meredith whispered as Carolyn lifted the girl in her arms

"Bye Meredith. See you in a bit!" Richard placed a soft kiss on Meredith's forehead

"Let's go see the kids. And I was making some snacks earlier, I bet you'd like some cookies" Carolyn asked Meredith

"Y-Yeah!" She giggled "A-Amy?"

"Amelia's making a castle with blankets and stuffies. Mark and Derek are helping. Do you wanna take a look?" Carolyn asked as she bounced the girl on her hip

"L-Look" Meredith nodded her head

Carolyn made her way upstairs with Meredith on her hip and entered Amelia's bedroom

"Guys, look who's here!" Carolyn smiled as she walked in

"Meredith!" Amelia gasped and jumped up. Carolyn placed Meredith down and watched how her daughter grabbed the girl's hand "Come look! Der and Markie built us a castle" She giggled

"Hi Mer" the boys smiled

"Let's go explore" Derek smiled

"N-Nice" Meredith gasped as she looked around. She was never allowed to build these at home

"Do you like it?" Mark asked her and she nodded her head

"Let's lay down with all the stuffies! Mommy promised she'd make us cookies!" Amelia smiled and Meredith nodded

...

"Meredith, come! We're gonna play outside" Amelia smiled

"Kay" The girl nodded and grabbed Amelia's hand. The two of them made their way outside

"Hey girls, don't you wanna have some dinner first?" Carolyn asked them

"Yes! Mommy, what are we having?" Amelia asked with a smile, Meredith a bit anxious as she had some issues with fine motor skills since the 'accident'

"We're having spaghetti" Carolyn smiled as Amelia ran into the kitchen "I'll cut it for you so you can just spoon it up" Carolyn promised Meredith and led the blonde girl to the kitchen

Carolyn had cut both girl's food and joined them as well as the boys

"Are you enjoying dinner?" Carolyn asked after a couple of minutes

"So good!" Amelia gasped and kept eating

"It's very good" The boys smiled and Meredith nodded, looking up slightly and smiling

Carolyn watched the girl spoon up the spaghetti with slightly trembling hands, she was exhausted from playing all afternoon but she still looked happy

"Mommy, can Meredith stay the night?" Amelia asked

"Meredith, would you like that?" Carolyn quietly asked

"Yes" Meredith smiled as she looked up

"Then we'll ask Richard. We can ask him once we're done with dinner" Carolyn smiled "You can use Amy's pajamas if you'd want"

"Okay" Meredith smiled and clutched her stuffy tight before going back to eating

...

"Mer, I'm so happy Richard said yes!" Amelia jumped up and down

"Me too Amy!" Meredith smiled but was clearly exhausted

"Girls, why don't you two ask the boys to come downstairs so we can all watch a movie" Carolyn smiled

"Let's go get them, Mer!" Amelia smiled

"Yes" Meredith smiled and followed Amy on the stairs but she was slightly held back as she was very careful

Carolyn smiled as she followed the girls and watched them pull the girls downstairs. Once they all sat down she decided to go make them some snacks but she could still hear them talk

"Mer picks the movie!" Mark said

"I agree!" Amelia and Derek smiled

Carolyn couldn't be happier. Meredith had Richard now, Ellis was locked up and she loved having the girl over
