Chapter V

Espresso's POV:
My head hurts. I had just woken up on a bench and fell off it. How did I end up here? On the floor were a lunch box and a note.
The note said:
Hi, I noticed you pass out when I was having a walk. Since I don't have the keys to your house and I don't think you'd like it too much if I went through your pockets, I placed you on this bench. You must be overworking yourself - go home and rest well.

Creep. He's been following me. Whatever. I went home to eat the lunch prepared by him. It was rice with soy sauce. He poured too much in but I ate it anyway. I really can't bother with making lunch. I would rather spend my time working on the experiments. It tasted too salty, but I can't be wasting food when I'm pretty much in debt, again.

Madeleine's POV:
I decided to text Latte about finding Espresso.

Latte

I think I found Espresso.

Did you find him?
Hello?
Please reply?
I SAID FUCKING REPLY.

Yeah, I found him. I'm sitting outside his house since
he won't let me in.

Is he safe? But real question
Are you some creep? Are you being some disgusting pervert,
watching him through the windows or something?

Of course not! He's safe though, but he seemed to have passed
out yesterday.

Same old Ess. He's always been overworking himself and passing out
randomly.
Good to know you're not perving on him or anything.
Do you have his number? Is the airship ticket prices high
right now? I miss him so much.

I don't currently. I'll get getting his number though. And
the ticket price is pretty low at the moment to
Vanilla Kingdom.

I went to knock on Espresso's door. No response. I decided to pick the lock open. He was standing there, pissed when I made it in.
'That's why I had 17 locks before my house burnt down. Ok, get out now.'
'Please give me your number!'
'No, why?'
'Because I need it for something.'
'Are you going to use that number for dodgy websites offering free Robux or something? The next thing is you asking for my credit card, even though you can afford everything.
'This is a misunderstanding! Latte wanted it to contact you.' He brightened up a bit when I mentioned her.
'You swear on the uhm Divine?'
'I swear on the Divine that Latte wanted to speak to you.'
'Alright, give me Latte's number. I don't trust you with mine since you're going to do some weird shit with it.'
I sighed in defeat and gave him her number. I'll be asking her later for it. After all, I still don't have a home and I need to live at his place.
'Thank you.'
'Are you going to give me anything?'
'Hm.' I stared at him, eager for him to say yes.'
'No.'
'Wait why? Why can't I stay here for a night? The inn is like a pigsty!'
'Fine. Since there is supposed to be a heatwave for the next few days, I'll let you stay for tonight and if it cools down, I will kick you out of my house.'
'Thank you! Thank you!' He didn't reply since he was fixated on his phone, most likely attempting to text Latte. He grinned a bit, which I admit is kind of cute. As in the way you would look at a kitten in a video. Yeah, that. It just wasn't usual of him to look so happy.
'I'll be going to collect Latte.' He tossed his keys to me hastily 'You can do whatever. Just don't enter my laboratory or else. I mean it. Or else.' Something's telling me I should. Just to see what's inside

Made this during the short 'hiatus'. I wasn't really on one to be honest; it was more of a 'I have no motivation and I'm going to take longer to do shit' sort of thing. Not too sure what to add next though. Please give suggestions (examples: Maybe modify the text area like ****, edit certain part in chapter */prologue *, rewrite the whole thing, make it that espresso falls asleep with madeleine), or give headcannons about them (examples: espresso is very short due to not bothering with eating, madeleine snores and wears those weird little hats when sleeping) so I could figure out what to work on next. Thanks <3
