As days passed, y/n was getting closer and closer with her friends. Obito wasn't that bad, as she initially thought. He was always late everywhere, but with a good excuse.

Rin was extremely caring and strong willed, she admired that about her. She also realized Obito had a huge crush on her so she teased him about it when they were walking home.

Kakashi, on the other hand, stayed Kakashi. She still knew little to nothing about the boy. He doesn't show many emotions, he doesn't talk about himself nor his life at home.

She wanted to know more about him and his father, but she mostly wanted to know who his mother was. The whole village knew that he lived alone with his father and never talked about his mother.

She was walking to the school one day and she noticed Kakashi was nowhere to be found. They usually went to school together since they lived in the same area. Thinking nothing of it, she went to school. Kakashi could be sick or just taking another route, she thought.

"Hey, Obito!" she called out to him at the park.

"Do you know where Kakashi is?" she asked approaching him.

"No. Why? Did something happen? Do you need something?" the boy replied clearly annoyed she just greeted him because of Kakashi.

"It's just... I haven't seen him today. I'm just asking around."

"Go ask Rin, she seems awfully worried today. Maybe she knows something."

The girl just nodded and ran off to find Rin. She was a bit off today, everyone has one of those days, she thought.

Finding Rin wasn't as easy as she thought it would be. Both older and younger students were outside, the whole park was crowded. Lastly, she went to check the girls' washroom. As she got in, she could hear someone crying.

"Rin?" she called out.

No answer, the crying just stopped. She got into the next stall, climbed on the toilet and looked over. It was Rin.

"Hey, Rin. What's the matter? Why are you crying?" she asked the girl who was now in complete shock.

"It- It's nothing... Really... I'm fine." she replied to her, wiping away her tears and leaving the stall.

"No, you're not." y/n jumped and ran towards her crying friend.

Grabbing her wrist with a soft look in her eyes she asked calmly, again.

"What's wrong? You can tell me, we're friends, right?"

"It's nothing about me..." she took a long pause trying to calm her breathing.

"It's K-Kakashi... His dad... He- he died last night." she finally spit it out.

Y/n's heart sank. She just hugged Rin as she cried, unsure of what she'll do. IF she'll even do anything. She didn't know how to comfort people since her comfort is literally forget and move on. She could imagine how Kakashi was feeling, she knew exactly what it felt like to lose a parent you love so much.

She made a decision. After school, she's going to Kakashi's, whether he wanted it or not.

The remaining classes dragged on, as if time stopped. She couldn't wait for the bell to finally ring. Once it did, she ran out of the classroom not even saying goodbye to Rin or Obito. Once she was far away from the school and near enough to his house, she slowed down. There wasn't any particular reason she had to run, but she wanted to see Kakashi. Hug him and tell him that everything will be fine. Of course that was a lie, but sometimes the truth is too much to handle.

Once she got there, she felt goosebumps run up her spine. The place felt dead and empty. She knocked on the door, but no one replied. There wasn't any movement behind the door, nobody was opening it. As panic sunk in, she began circling the house, yelling Kakashi's name, as if he would hear her and come out.

A few Chunin that were in charge of cleaning up the house noticed the commotion outside.

"Hey. Hey! Girl! Stop yelling!" a man shouted at her.

She quickly turned to face the man. The terror in her young emerald green eyes seemed to frighten the man. Slowly, he started to approach her, but she was quick to run away. She didn't know what or who she was running away from. She knew she had to find Kakashi.

Not long after the man caught up to her and pinned her to the floor, she was screaming and demanding the man to let her go, but the man picked her up and just hugged her. At that moment she melted and cried elephant tears.

As sun started to settle down y/n was calming down. The man escorted her to her apartment complex. She apologized and thanked the man with a bow. She noticed one of the lights in her apartment was on. Quickly grabbing her kunai, she opened the door.

Luckily, before she threw the kunai, she got a good look at the boy's face. It was Kakashi. The kunai dropped next to her leg when she saw him. His hair was even messier than usual, his mask was damped with his tears and his eyes were red. Her legs moved before she could think and she ran to hug the boy.

The boy didn't hug her back, he just stood there, as if he was drained of any emotion.

"They told me I'll be living here for a while. Next door." the boy said while y/n was squeezing him to death.

Hearing that, she pulled away from the hug to look him in the eyes. His eyes once shined with dark light that drew her so much towards him, and now, his eyes were just a black, empty void.

"You can stay over for as long as you'd like. I don't mind a guest." she said with a light smile.

Sitting the boy on the couch, she went to prepare tea. The boy just stared into empty space and it worried her, so she started to hum that low tune her brother used to. It drew his attention.

She brought him a blanket and tea and sat beside him. He was watching her with such amusement as she hummed the tune. It calmed him down and not long after, he fell into deep sleep on her couch.

If anyone is wondering what tune I'm constantly talking about, it's The Misty Mountains Cold from Hobbit.
