Chapter V - It's No Big Deal

"I didn't do it," Peyton said confidently.

His lawyer cleared throat and said, "Hindi mo kailangang sumagot."

"Is there a chance that you, Miss Profiler, have no idea who you are talking to right now?" hindi napigilan na tanong ng mayabang na binata.

"Mr. Tanner, I'm here as your legal representative and I am advising you to not utter a single word," mariin na sabi ng lawyer.

Peyton leaned forward to get a closer look at Jiwon. He again ignored his lawyer's advice. "If you're originally from here, kilala mo dapat ang pamilya ko. Kilala mo dapat ako." Ibinaling ng binata ang tingin sa katabi niyang abogado. "Nakarating na ba kay dad? Hangga't maaari h'wag mo siyang tawagan. Makakalabas din naman ako dito agad e." 'Tsaka niya ibinalik ang tingin sa dalagang kaharap sa interrogation room. "Right, Miss Profiler?"

Jiwon lifted her gaze to Peyton's proud face. She thought, 'A typical narcissistic sociopath. An attitude of entitlement, a grandiose sense of self-importance, and he's disregarding laws and social norms. He is also denying responsibility for his actions. This kind of person usually lacks empathy. Those could be the reasons why he committed so many unlawful actions and he could do more if ever he manages to get away with this.'

"You see, it was Javier who did everything. It was not me," Peyton proudly confessed.

"Mr. Tanner--"

Jiwon cut off his lawyer, "So you're admitting that a crime did occur."

"My client will not answer--"

Peyton cut off his lawyer too, "He killed Kristie and buried her in the corn field."

Detective Han entered the interrogation room, approached Jiwon, and whispered, "Umamin na si Javier. Isinend ko na sa email mo 'yung ebidensya na ibinigay niya." He remained standing behind her and watched how she checked the video he was talking about.

Sandaling pinanood iyon ng dalaga bago ibinalik muli kay Peyton ang atensyon. "You admitted that a crime did occur and it was recorded. P'wede 'yong gamitin sa korte laban sa 'yo."

Naningkit ang mga mata ni Peyton sa narinig. "Hindi mo ba ako narinig? Bingi ka ba? Nag-confess na ako na si Javier ang pumatay kay Kristie! Anong sinasabi mong p'wedeng gamitin laban sa akin? Wala akong ginawa! Si Javier ang ikulong n'yo!"

"But he's telling otherwise."

"Mas pakikinggan n'yo pa siya kesa sa akin?!" Peyton even slapped his palms on the table.
