I thought this was a joke at first when I first saw the post, but after reading some of the comments.... well, they weren't joking.

Some people edit the Genshin character models or art to "fix" them and make them look "better" by making them have dark skin.

Like for ex: I've seen an artist's OC who is on the larger side, and other artists took the work and "fixed" it by making her OC skinnier.

A Genshin example would be a fanart of Kaeya and other artists taking it and fixing his skin tone to be darker than it really should be.

Back to the topic - I wasn't surprised to see the editing of Kaeya and Xinyan, but to see the pale skinned characters edited was new to me. The post showed Keqing's original character model and when you swiped to the next page, it showed her "fixed and better version": a Black Keqing (I say Black because that's what the artist said).

I also found an Albedo edited to have darker skin. The artist also had this whole ass paragraph on why Albedo looks better as a "Black person" and why he should've been Black.

I didn't see any other art examples, but people in the comments were talking about how much better the pale skinned characters would be if they were "Black" or "darker skinned".

I would've stayed and spent money on this game if the 5 stars had darker skin js - pale too basic

Black skin is beautiful. Bet they would've gotten way more money if the characters were given chocolate skin 💘

White skin is overrated anyways. Like maybe the only character that looks remotely good with it is Jean but that's it.

Beidou is African American. Makes sense since she's always out in the sun. So Kazuha should've also had darker skin but y'know the company literally hates us 🙄

For some reason, it's okay for people to change pale skinned characters to have dark skin/change the character's race to be Black, but it's not okay to make dark skin characters have pale skin.

One reply to why it's okay to change pale skin to dark skin: "bc pale skin ppl don't go through racism and discrimination".

Obviously I laughed after I read that. There are plenty of people with pale skin who goes through that. It's so sad how ignorant people are.

Asians can have pale skin and dark skin. Middle Easterners can have pale skin and dark skin. Black people can have pale skin and dark skin. The list goes on.

What's even more sad is that there are actually people out there who believe only Black people/African Americans can have dark skin. Period. Or they always associate dark skin with those two groups.

I had this one Chinese friend who had dark skin and we were at a food court in a mall. This Black girl could not believe it when she saw my friend. She walked right up to our table and said "Naw there's NO way you're not also mixed with Black. Aren't Asians supposed to be white skinned?"

So now a dark skinned Asian can't exist? If a dark skinned Asian DOES exist, they're a BLASIAN.

I think the whole thing with the fixing and making pale skinned characters look "better" by giving them dark skin or changing their race is weird. Because apparently dark skin/being Black magically makes the character more likable.

Keqing was always so annoying to be tbhh but after seeing her with dark skin.... might change my mind

Wtf?

But anyways, while I don't agree with it and find it disrespectful when the artist fixes things to make it "better" (esp when changing the character's ethnicity), I just block the content and artist and scroll away.

Have you guys seen any other art examples of this?
