This was the end. That's all you could think about as you and Marc walked down the familiar hallway of your hotel. After tonight you would no longer crawl back to that shared hotel room. You and Marc could board the plane home and spend the rest of your lives, no matter how short, in the comfort of your home.
Marc was unusually quiet on the way down the winding staircase. It caught your attention and Marc was aware of that.
"What's going on, Marc?"
You quizzed him as the two of you made it into the elegantly decorated lobby, that being the only thing you would really miss about this hotel, other than the view from the room of course. He looked over towards you not coming to a stop as he continued to storm out of the hotel, forcing you to follow behind him.
"Nothing."
"Nothing?"
Marc nodded to answer your query and only stopped walking as you grabbed his arm and forced him to look at you, spinning slightly he pulled his arm back and faced you properly. You waited a moment and he finally caved under your unrelenting gaze.
"We don't need Yuri"
you rolled your eyes already annoyed with Marc's whining about your friend.
"Yes we do Marc. She's an important asset to me and we found the temple quicker than we would if it was just us two."
He shook his head in defiance.
"No we don't. I knew where the temple was already but you didn't even give me a chance to tell you that. I've told you just how dangerous this entire situation is! I didn't think you could be so fucking stupid honestly"
He snapped, voice raising and a feral look in his eyes. This was pure anger and it confused you, Marc said he was fine with Yuri helping not even twenty minutes ago. Your expression shifted into one from annoyance to confusion as you retorted.
"Excuse me? who the fuck do you think you're talking to like that?!"
The argument was starting to attract a crowd as pedestrians slowed to a stop on the sidewalk to watch. You cleared your throat and ran your fingers through your hair in an attempt to brush it from your face, soothed from the motion you stared up at Marc who looked back to you.
"Yuri is In danger now and it's all because of you. I just hope you can live with that on your conscious."
Marc whispered and threw his arm out as a taxi drove towards you both. You were stunned at where this had come from though you really should have been expecting it. The moment Marc had opened his eyes he seemed to be distracted by something.
"Yuri is a big girl I'm sure she can handle herself. Fuck Marc if you're so worried then maybe you should just stay here. Or perhaps let Steven out"
You hissed and pushed past Marc to get into the taxi first. He watched you enter the passenger side instead of getting in the back with him and begrudgingly entered the back. You smiled kindly at the cab driver and told him your destination. The driver nodded in understanding and started on his journey.
Marc looked into the rear view mirror and was met with Stevens rather upset expression.
"Why are you constantly arguing with her? I don't think either of you have had a normal interaction for longer than three hours"
Steven growled through the reflection and Marc sneered a little when he heard his voice. Marc covered his mouth with his hand and didn't retort to Steven.
"You think you're good at hiding what you really feel. News flash you aren't. Marc you're going about this whole thing wrong."
"Enough Steven please"
