Camp Life

After a tour of the camp, it was time to play the role of a demigod and start training. Grover took Percy to the weapons warehouse where innumerable and unimaginable weapons lined the walls. Percy couldn't help but wonder how they allowed children to handle this stuff. Normal kids weren't even allowed to hold knives; these people want him to fight with swords twice his size.

Grover picked out a nice armor for Percy that he thought might fit.

"This should keep you alive long enough," Grover commented while holding the armour up to Percy.

"Huh!?" Percy asked, shocked. Was he going to die? Probably. Judging by the weapons at least.

"Relax, I'm kidding." Grover laughed. "Somewhat," he added later.

Percy and Grover headed to the archery range first where Selene had been training not too long ago. He couldn't help but search for the brunette in the vast sea of blondes.

"Theo, this is Percy. He's new so treat him well," Grover said to the blond haired, blue eyed boy with a bow and quiver on his back then walked off.

"Alright, Percy. Let's start."

The two headed to stand in front of a target. Theo handed Percy a quiver and taught him how to nock an arrow. So far so good. He only dropped the arrow twice.

"Okay, you wanna keep your dominant foot in front of your non dominant foot and close your non dominant eye," Theo instructed.

Percy did as he was told and placed his right foot in front of his left and closed his left eye.

"Good. Now, look at the arrowhead and align it with the bullseye." Percy moved the quiver slightly to the left. "And fire!" He let go of the arrow and off it went about 5 inches right of the target.

"I'm betting that was wrong," Percy said.

"It's only your first try. Don't worry, you'll get it." Theo walked off to attend to some of the younger campers also practicing archery.

A young boy, younger than Percy at least, shot arrows at the target mercilessly, getting the target almost every time. Percy could not be losing to a 9 year old. His ego wouldn't be able to take the hit.

He reloaded the quiver and shot at the target again, missing by a large margin. This process continued around 30 more times and somehow each time, the margin managed to get bigger.

"Statistically speaking, you should've hit the target at least once by now," a grey eyed boy said from next to Percy. He frowned and continued shooting.

After 10 more shoots, it was clear archery was not for Percy. Grover took Percy to Luke for sword fighting next.

Percy hoped that at least he would be good in sword fighting.

"Hey Luke, this is Percy. He's new and trying to find a weapon of choice. Teach him well," Grover explained to the blond haired, blue eyed boy in front of him.

Luke smiled at Percy. "Of course."

Luke handed Percy a sword and stood in front of him to demonstrate what to do.

"Keep the sword in you dominant hand and put it out in front of your chest. You wanna have your right leg forward, knees slightly bent." Percy did as he was told. "That's good."
