The next morning

I've been awake for almost half an hour now just trying to get myself to move out of this bed but the cold air surrounding my room is getting the better of me. So I've been stuck here just thinking about and going over yesterday's dinner and the conversations that took place..waiting for the call he promised he would be making.

I don't want this to happen again. I don't want him to completely take over my mind again but I can't seem to help it. Whenever I see him he is all I can think about. The image of him, The words he says to me, The scent that is his and only his, The kisses he gives me even if they are only on my cheek or my forehead, The way his hands touch my skin. It all lingers.

Then there is a soft knock on the door that brings me back to life. I begin to smile thinking about the daughter that is ours.

"Come in," I say in a sweet tone knowing that knocking on my door must have been terrifying for Leilani. The door slightly opens and I see her head poking through.

"Sorry did I wake you"

"No I've been awake for a bit but it's so cold I can't get out of bed" I chuckle lifting the covers off me shivering as the fresh frozen air hits me.

"It is cold isn't it?" She giggles "I was just gonna ask if you wanted some breakfast? I can make you some." She asks shyly not knowing if she is the one who should be taking the initiative around me. But I reassure her.

"Oh, no honey don't worry I'll come down and make some for us! That's my job!" I get up walking over to her. She opens the door more, enough for me to wrap my arms around her small torso. "Good morning"

I feel her arms wrap tightly around my body whilst she rests her head on my chest "Good morning Ma"

The biggest smile creeps across my face and I can't help the tears that are forming in my eyes after hearing her being comfortable enough to call me Mum for the first time. I tilt my head down to look at her when I feel her head tilt up to look at me, Her smile forms after seeing mine. I lean down to kiss her forehead before we walk downstairs to the kitchen.

"So how'd you sleep?" I asked her whilst preparing us both plates of scrambled eggs, bacon and toast.

"Good! I was so tired from yesterday! I fell asleep as soon as I got upstairs last night." She said before taking a sip of her orange juice.

"Oh, that's good sweetie! How's your bed? Is it okay? If not we can go get a new one for you!" Walking over to the counter, placed both the plates on the counter and got two forks out of the draw.

"Oh, it's great! Much more comfy than my one back home!"

"Oh, Good! So tell me about Australia and your life over there!"

"What do you want to know?"

"Absolutely everything" I say with a huge smile on my face getting ready to learn about my daughter's upbringing.

"This may take a while" She giggles taking another sip before telling me absolutely everything indeed.

After breakfast and hearing about Leilani's last 13 years in Australia, I'm in the kitchen cleaning up whilst she's upstairs taking a morning shower. That's when my phone finally rang.

"Good morning" Was all he said although I could hear him smiling on the other side of the phone. And that was just enough to let the butterflies loose in my stomach.

"Morning" I limited my words hoping that he couldn't hear that I was too smiling so much that my lips hurt.
