Everything is going to be...

"Thief!"

I spin around and see Jax walking over.

"Yeah? Is something wrong?" I ask as he reaches me.

"No, I just wanted to talk to you."

"Oh, what did you want to talk about?"

"Anything I guess. I just wanted to hear your voice."

I look at him, confused.

"Sorry, that probably sounded weird." He apologizes.

"No, no, it's fine. I understand." I laugh.

For a moment Jax doesn't say anything.

"So, how's Annabel?" I begin.

"I'm not sure. We haven't spoken for a while." He admits.

"Oh? I thought you two were, you know, together? You did bring her as your date to the reunion."

"No, no, no, no, no. Not even close. She's like a sister to me."

"Oh. I see. So, who's this queen that you were writing about in your homework a few years ago?"

"Wait, WHAT?! You knew about that?!"

"Well obviously. Don't shout, the children are staring." I say, waving quickly to a concerned looking group of kids.

They wave back then start walking again.

"So, who was it?" I ask again.

The wind picks up suddenly and my hair blows in front of my face. I frown and use my hand to move the hair out of my face.

Jax laughs and I glare lightly at him.

"Jeez Thief, if you had your hair in a ponytail you wouldn't have to worry about your hair getting in your face." He laughs.

"Well excuse me for being in a hurry today. Stop laughing, it's not funny!" I complain.

"I'm sorry, but it really is funny."

"No it's not!"

"Yes it is."

"No it isn't! It isn't funny!"

"It's cute though."

I pause for a second, surprised and confused.

"What?" I ask, thinking I must have heard him wrong.

"It's cute." He repeats.

"Awwww!" A voice squeals.

I look over and see another small group of students gathered.

"This is adorable! Are you married Ms. Gilly? Are you Mrs. Gilly?" Another student shouts.

I blush and shake my head.

"Run along little ones. This is a private conversation between the adults." I scold.

"Awww okay." "Tell us how it goes after!" "Wait, do we have a dad here or not?" "Is he our new dad for while we're here?"

I turn back to Jax.

"Just tell me who it is." I say, exasperated.

"Fine."

He gently puts a hand on the side of my face.

"The person I was talking about is..." He begins.

He puts his forehead to mine.

"You." He finishes.

Then he kisses me.

After a moment I hear a cheer behind me. I break away quickly and spin around.

There's a small group of students standing there.

"We've been waiting for you two to get together since you became the headmistress!" "It's so obvious you liked each other!" "Did you see the way he looked at you? He was so obviously in love!" "FINALLY!!" "Do you know how long it took for you two to get together? Five years. It was worth the wait though... mostly."

The last comment was made by Kayla.

"How long have you all been there?" I ask, blushing furiously.

Now I'm trying to get my hair in my face to hide it.

"The whole time. You didn't see us because we were hiding." Ollie says.

"The children joined in a little later." AG says.

I don't think it's possible for my face to be more red. My hair isn't hiding my face very well so instead of hiding behind my hair, I bury my face in Jax's shoulder. He puts an arm around my waist.

I immediately hear a chorus of 'awwwwww'.

"Alright, stop embarrassing her. Go to your dorms, it's getting late." Jax says.

"What about us? We don't have dorms." Maxine points out.

"Just go to Gilly's office. We'll be there in a moment." He says.

The people surrounding us obey and leave us alone in the garden.

I step backwards and look up at Jax.

"So, I'm the girl you liked when you were twelve?" I ask.

"You're also the girl I like now." He says.

"Well obviously. If you don't like me then you wouldn't have kissed me." I point out.

"Well, I'm about to do it again." He smiles.

I laugh.

"I wouldn't be totally against that." I grin.

Then he kisses me again.
