I turn around. Benny is stood close in front of me. I don't say anything. Neither does he. Instead he hugs me. His body is warm and makes me feel a sense of comfort.he holds me tightly for a while. His head is resting on mine and my head is on his chest.
"I'm sorry that happened to you" he says slowly moving away from me.
I look at him. I've had plenty of people say that to me but Benny seemed genuine.
"Thank you"
He smiles.
"Cmon, I'll take you home."
We make our way home.
"Listen, you don't have to play again. You can carry on watching us instead." Benny says to me.
I take a second to think about it.
"To be honest, I do miss baseball and I know that my dad would be wanting me to play."
"So you'll play with us!?"
"I suppose so"
Benny smiles. He looks excited.
"I'll see you tomorrow then!"
"Bye Benny"
I smile and walk into my house. A little while later scotty comes home.
"Y/n" he walks over to me.
"I told the boys not to mention it."
"Thank you, next time please tell me if you're going to tell them something personal about me" I say
"Okay sorry"
I smile at him and walk away.
~the next day at the sandlot~
"Guys, y/n is gonna be playing with us now" Benny announces
All the boys cheer. Everyone gets into positions.
"All right, let's play some ball." Says Bertram.
