i was running at my local park late at night, rocking out to my usual favorites when by the grace of jihyo "kill this love" came up on my queue because it was similar to something i was listening to. i live in a very underwhelming place and the only other kpop stan i knew was my cousin, who had been stanning bts since debut, but all my other relatives made fun of her for it. i had listened to music in many languages even before i got into kpop so i didn't really care. it had a nice beat and was great for running. when i got home i checked out more of blackpink's songs and fell into the kpop rabbit hole.
i think blackpink were a good "transitional" group for me. they don't have a huge discography so it was easily to listen to everything (this was before the album, too), and they only have four members so it was easy to remember names. i had my first comeback with them before i even stanned any other groups (the second group i stanned was bts).
anyways, they got me into kpop. and they made me realize i'm lesbian. no matter how frustrated i get with yg, i'll always ult the girls and support their comebacks, whether as a group or with individual projects.
