Ch-15: The Racing Mind (Chehak)

Damn! No wonder he is at this position in this short time, perfect corporate conduct and yet so friendly.

Would anyone even believe that the same man passed out in a pub after 6 shots of tequila and was taken over by drunk confessions! Whatever it may be, my heart knew i was off to a good start, while my mind still warned me to be careful.

Smiling, i chipped "I'll try my best not to disappoint you! So shall we proceed?"

"Uh! Yes indeed." He said and gestured me to follow him.

"So here we are!" He guided me into a huge common area where in lay various spacious yet cramped cubicles, pointing towards one of them to the left he said "That's going to be yours. But before you get cozy in there let me show you where we all sit and plan, because rarely are we working alone given our field."

I nodded and we moved forward.

He like a gentlemen opened the door for me as we walked into a moderately large room with a huge conference table for 24 people and a wall size projector, though it didn't seem like a conference room meeting room sort of thing as spread over was a large mess of papers, cds, and i guess some of the products whose promotions and marketing strategy we catered to.

"Hey guys, listen up! Meet Ms.Chehak Verma our new Manager Product Promotions. Though she is still on probation for the training purpose." He said as the 5 people sitting in the room one of them being Nishchay who i already knew, smiled towards me standing up to greet me.

"So Chehak, this is Naveli, Ravi, Sumesh, Divya and Nishchay. And the guy i was speaking to outside when you came in was Dhruv, the assistant head product management, he is out for a client visit as of now, but will be joining in shortly." He said introducing me to everyone as i shook hands with them.

"Uhmm... Divya i hold you responsible to get Chehak in touch with our way of working and her duties. I have a call to attend, so i'll catch you later. And guys please buck up on those headphones , Sinha the grumpy oldie is on my nerves! As a matter of fact, Ruchika was handling the promotions for this one no, and as chehak has come in her place i would like her to start with that! So yeah get on with it everyone and Divya give chehak the details of this project too, so she can begin her work.
All the best everyone! I'll be back soon." He said walking out of the room, giving me a positive smile before he left.

"Hey! Once again i am Divya! I do the surveying and market analysis for product demand. And Naveli vendor distribution, scheming and pricing. While Ravi and sumesh handle the media, advertising campaign and filming. So they are the techies." Divya explained me the roles everyone played and was stopped when Nishchay interrupted.

"I am Nishchay as you very well know! And for what i do- i cater to the external tie ups required for offers and schemes. " He said smiling end to end.
I giggled.

"I already know you! Though i am a bit inexperienced so if someone would tell me what is expected of me exactly!" I asked.

"Uhmm.. Besides bringing good food for us for the entire week as we are senior to you here, You have to plan the promotional strategy and the advertising campaign. In short words you get to boss over these two poor lads." Nishchay spoke side hugging Ravi and sumesh who joining him gave sad puppy like expressions.

"Yeah! That's precisely what you have to do!" Divya said sitting down gesturing me to do the same. Keeping my bag down i sat on one of the rotating chairs as she handed over the file of product details to me.

"Hmmm, so what we are looking at are the new headphones that sync technologies one of our 6 current associates, is about to launch in the market. So what Ruchika had earlier planned was to target the party going college students, like the party begins with music in those headphones." Divya explained as i read through the file.

While Naveli excused herself, for she had some sales issue to tackle.

"Ya but from what i get from this description, is that the main feature of these headphones is d great amplifying power, like if the person is listening to music from these even if within the safe hearing limit, he would feel secluded, as if the music is just playing for that person. So if we take the case of party going college students, then this idea wont work!" I said analysing the product.
"And why is that?" Divya said quite interested to know what do i have in my mind.

"For one- headphones isn't something more than 2 people can use at a time, so its not like a party can happen using just those. And if she meant that have your own party with these headphones on, then i guess that is quite a clichéd approach.
Secondly- i think the approach should be a tad bit romantic, given that the release is in the Valentine's week." I said looking up from the file to face everybody.

"Hmmm... Sounds right. So whats in your mind exactly?" Ravi said getting involved.

"Uhmm... You know like, make every moment together like a romantic date, as sync headphones drive you into your dreams with music!" I said working up a campaign tag line.

"Sounds impressive, so do you already have a advertisement script in your head as well?" Sumesh asked

"Infact, i actually do!" I said with a gleaming smile as an idea popped into my head.
