Valentines Day in Wisconsin

Like the most beautiful wedding cake

The ground was iced in gleaming white

A love letter written in the earth

An affection so clear and bright

How the frozen ponds and hardened earth

And wires lined with cold little birds

Could warm my soul so deeply

I could never explain in words

It may be the quiet so crisp it sings

The haunting beauty of death

The still trees dreaming of spring

A winter winds that's stealing breath

It may be the seed so silently waiting

The buried hope of new life

A green hidden within the brown

The sun piercing the sky like a knife

But I know in the end it's the mystery

Of a heart whitened like snow by Love

My name engraved in the hand of God

Little snowflake gifts from above
