Over the years, Christianity had spread across the Philippine islands via trade and conversion. Although small in population, the early natives spread rapidly and established settlements in other islands as well. So much so, by the time of Alexander's death in the 3rd century, the natives and their mixed descendants had built a statue of him in one of the largest settlements in the island of Palawan. At the same time, small churches were established with unity rather than division in doctrine and practice.
By the time Roman persecution ended at the reign of Constantine the Great, the early Filipino churches had great connections with the churches in the Roman Empire.
But it only lasted when the churches in the Roman Empire started to dispute in matters of doctrine. But the early churches in the Philippine islands had managed to stay away from such useless and meaningless disputes and stayed true to their original doctrines. And by the time the church in the Roman Empire split into the Eastern Orthodoxy and Oriental Orthodoxy, the churches formed their own branch of Christianity known as the Far Eastern.
