Aris' POV

I'm rounding the corner of the club one of my companies just built and as I step inside, I see one of my best friends in a seat on the back wall nursing a beer. When he sees me, he waves me over whispering something to the girl on his lap to make her leave.

As I approach him, he holds out a hand and says "don't judge me... we can't all blow off steam just by going to work every day so wipe that disapproving look off your face"

I remove the so-called "disapproving" look and ask him, "what is that supposed to mean?"

"You know what I'm talking about Aris... you let off your steam by beating the crap out of people for information and I do it by drinking and hooking up with girls."

"You could always join my mafia because I'm telling you... my way works better." I respond with a smirk. It always makes me feel better knowing I get to wake up and beat the shit out of someone every day but because Nic isn't anything like me I always know what his response will be.

"No thanks... I think I'll stick to my solution because it works great, maybe you should try my way" He looks at me smirking knowing my answer is no.

I may be a bad guy but I don't use girls the way I've seen my father do all my life, which is also why I've never had a girlfriend. They seem like way too much work anyways... plus I don't think any girl could handle me.

Lost in my thoughts I didn't realize Nic had gotten up, he was staring down at me like he was waiting for a response, so I asked "what?"

He repeated. "I'm going to the bar to get another drink... did you want anything?"

        "Yea-

"Good! Get it yourself." He walked away chuckling as I looked down shaking my head and smiling. I eventually got up and headed to the bar.

I met Nic a long time ago when he was in a bad situation but he still managed the priority of putting a smile on my face and he still does. Which is also why I keep him around. He's also one of the only people I trust.

We sit down and have small chats while drinking a few beers but I finally order whiskey to take this weird edge off but of corse it doesn't work. Nothing works like hitting someone does.

When i've about had enough of sitting here I turn toward Nic and tap his shoulder but just as I was about to tell him I'm leaving a flash at the door catches my eye. I looked over and a gorgeous girl who is my exact type walked through the door.

"So, I guess that means you're staying a little longer?" Nic asks me as he catches me staring.

"Yeah, I might stay a little longer."

He responds with a loud laugh that catches the angel's attention and she whips her head in my direction. She looks me up and down... smirks at me then walks to the opposite side of the room. I am so going to get to know that woman before I leave tonight.

She continues to sit down with two other girls who I am assuming are her friends. They look like the same person. Weird. Nic then motions for us to go back to our original seats, and I fall into step behind him.

Returning my attention back to the angel I catch her already staring at me... but unlike the other girls, she continues to keep eye contact. She finally breaks away when one of her friend pulls her towards the restrooms. Her friend continues to look over in my direction but looks at Nic instead of me.

I lose sight of her as the door closes and I don't dare to remove my eyesight until she reappears.

Nic tries to restart the conversation, but I remain uninterested... too focused on wondering what's taking my angel so long in there.

Finally, after what seems like 30 minutes, she steps out of the restrooms laughing with her friend. I don't know why but for some reason I get angry... wanting to be the reason that beautiful laugh rings through the room.

I get up giving in to her gravitational pull. As I start to approach their booth, another man walks up and hugs her from behind.

A powerful wave of anger courses through me and as I start to move toward him, I stop myself in confusion.

I don't get jealous. I'm not interested in getting into a relationship and from the looks of it she's already in one. I fall back into the shadows and return to the bar to get a drink to calm my nerves.

From the bar, I look back to her booth to find she has moved to the dance floor. The man that was hugging her before now dances with one of the short blondes... which for some reason makes me feel better. My angel starts to dance with her second friend but as the song slows, Nic walks up to them and starts talking. So much for the bourbon calming my nerves!

The angel turns to stare me down and while it intimidates me a little, I don't look away. She starts walking my way while Nic winks at me and starts dancing with the second blonde. I watch her the entire way as she walks the bar until she sits on the seat right next to mine and says, "you have a serious staring problem."
