eventually however he did fall asleep. he wasn't sure when but he was awoken with the door being closed. he looked over to juliana's seat and she was gone and the panic set in. this is what he was afraid of. he jumped out of the car, still barefoot and looked around the parking lot.
"are you okay." her calm voice calmed him, she was just about to walk into the bathroom.
"oh, yeah." he smiled, walking to the mens bathroom. that's when he noticed he was bare foot, stepping in a puddle that he didn't even want to think about what it could be. he walked back to the car and grabbed the wipes from the glove compartment, the liquid seemed to just be water. he climbed into the drivers seat and slipped on his shoes, walking back into the bathroom and did his business.
"good morning, beautiful." he smiled as juliana walked out of the bathroom.
"good morning." she blushed and climbed into the passenger seat.
"did you get some sleep?" she asked while looking over at him.
"yeah." rowan opened his suitcase in the backseat and pulled out some khaki shorts, underwear and a button up shirt, then pulling out his hygiene bag.
"did not know they had showers." he chuckled. she hadn't realized them either and opened her suitcase. she got out a romper, underwear and some sandals as well as her hygiene bag. they both took showers and got dressed, coming back to the car after about twenty minutes. when she walked out he was folding their blankets and tucking their pillows and blankets into the backseat.
"you look handsome." she smiled and hugged onto his back.
"thank you pretty girl." eventually they went to a coffee shop she saw. the place was cozy, pastel colors and soft lights. they stayed here for hours, getting their computers out of the car and planned out some more things in her journal. they got a few different things from the cafe as well as different drinks throughout the time they were there. they even made friends with the barista, who came to sit with them while on her break.
"so, where are you guys heading?" she asked juliana.
"we're here for today then we're going to new york." emma smiled when noticing how rowan looked at juliana. how he just looked so lost in her features, he looked truly in love with her.
"so you guys are just traveling?" she nodded.
"exploring the world essentially." juliana smiled, slipping the notebook from rowan and handed it to emma.
"this is what we have so far." emma scanned through the notebook pages and smiled.
"this seems like so much fun." she said without looking up.
"four months?" she chuckled softly, handing the book back to juliana.
"yeah, my brothers watching our houses so we're just, exploring the world." emma looked at the clock and saw her break was almost over.
"you guys seem like fun." she smiled to the two of them, writing down her number on one of the empty pages of the note book and handed it back to juliana.
"if you guys ever find yourself back in jersey let me know, i'd love to show you two around." she smiled and slid out of the booth, walking back to behind the counter and washed her hands.
"she's a sweetheart." juliana smiled, finally meeting rowan's eyes. it seemed like she snapped him out of his daze.
"uh huh." he hummed, looking at his computer. juliana smiled and looked back at hers, noticing the time.
"wow, it's almost time for our reservation." their reservation was at 6 and it was now five thirty. rowan pulled out his wallet to pay for the things they got, tipping emma twenty bucks for her patients with their questions.
"hey, we're closing soon.. so you guys can have these." emma smiled while placing a box of donuts, pastries and a few other things from the bakery she'd have to throw out.
"what, no.. you keep them." juliana smiled, pushing the box back to emma.
"i'm gonna have to throw them out anyways... snacks for the road." she smiled warmly. juliana hugged emma and rubbed her back softly.
"i love you." she said jokingly with a smile. emma hugged her back while laughing, eventually turning to go back to the counter. rowan and juliana said their last goodbyes to emma before going back to the truck. he stopped to get some gas then drove to the restaurant. they arrived right on time and walked in, although they weren't super hungry as they filled up on pastries and coffee but they didn't want to let go of the reservation.
"this place is fancy." juliana said with a smile. she felt very undressed compared to the waitresses who all wore tuxedoes or fancy black dress.
"reservation for moore." rowan took juliana's hand into his and gave her a gentle squeeze.
"right this way." the man flashed a soft smile and lead them through the restaurant to a booth.
"your server will be with you shortly." the man said before walking off back to the front desk. he passed a menu to juliana and they both looked through it, finding a few different things they wanted to try. they decided to get a few things as the first day of new york they didn't have plans and the air bnb probably wouldn't have any food. their table was practically full of different types of dishes as well as drinks.
"you guys doing okay?" the server asked while clapping her hands together.
"everything's great, thank you." rowan gave a friendly smile and turned back to the food in front of him. he didn't know where to start, looking to see what juliana started with.
"ouu these are good." she said excitedly, pushing the plate of chicken samosas to him. they shared the dishes in front of them until they were stuffed, unable to eat anything more. he paid for the bill and boxed up all of their extras.
"have a good night." the server said while placing a few chocolates on the table. he grabbed the bag of takeout boxes and placed fifteen dollars on the table before he walked to take juliana's hand into his.
"ready to hit the road pretty?" she nodded and hugged his arm. he looked down at her and smiled warmly.
"are you okay?" he asked, to which she nodded.
"sleepy." she muttered. he sat the food in the backseat and climbed into the drivers seat after helping juliana in.
"we head to new york now right?" she nodded and handed him the notebook, he reached to the backseat and got her blanket as well as her pillow and reached across her body to recline her seat.
"get some rest, the drive is gonna be pretty long." he spread the blanket over her and typed the address into the gps.
