*time skip, two months ahead*

on their trip they went from jersey, to new york to ohio, illinois, iowa and now they were in kansas. they arrived to their campsite and they still hadn't got a tent but they were perfectly fine with sleeping in the bed of his truck, in fact they were excited to be able to sleep under the stores.

it was a little weird to be surrounded by tents and not have a tent but their camp mates were pretty chill. there's was a family across the way with a three year old that grew attached to jules while they were down in the lake.

"hey!" she shouted over to juliana. the brunette smiled and crouched down, hugging the girl.

"good morning maya." juliana smiled, waving to the parents that's were cooking at their campsite. juliana carried maya over to the lake and showed her some of the frogs and butterflies until rowan finished breakfast, at the same time mayas parents finished cooking theres.

"can i just eat with you and rowan." the blue eyed girl frowned while juliana walked her back to her campsite.

"you'd have to ask your mommy and daddy." juliana said while putting maya down at her campsite, holding her hand the rest of the way.

"good morning." mayas mom greeted.

"mama can i stay with jules?" she immediately asked, not even leaving juliana's side to ask.

"we've got to go shower in a bit.. you can stay with them until then okay?" her mom compromised, and maya immediately agreed.

"does she eat eggs and sausages?" juliana asked while picking the girl back up. her dad chuckled while sitting with his plate of food.

"it'd be easier to tell you what she won't eat." juliana smiled and waved goodbye before walking back to rowan.

"good morning maya." he smiled, taking her from juliana's hands so jules cooed eat.

"g'mornin." she smiled and reached to be put on the bed of the truck. he sat her down and handed her a sausage.

"thanks." she smiled and scooted to the back of the bed of the truck. juliana watched rowan with endearment. she never thought he'd get along with kids, but here he was, and it was the sweetest thing to watch.

"do you have toast?" maya asked while swiping her messy blond hair from her face.

"no but i can make you some." rowan smiled and flipped back on the griddle.

"can i sit up here with you?" juliana asked the blond and she smiled, scooting over to make room for her.

"you has eggs?!" maya said with excitement, leaning over juliana's plate.

"mhm, you want some?" maya nodded and stood to get the fork rowan was handing her. she sat between juliana's legs and ate the eggs with her, shrugging her shoulders in a happy way.

"here's your toast." rowan smiled and placed the toast on juliana's plate for maya to eat when she was ready. maya stayed with them for the next hour until her mom came to get her.

"cmon princess." her mom cooed, reaching to grab her but she held onto juliana.

"i stay!" she whined.

"you can come right back." juliana frowned softly and picked maya up, handing her to her mom.

"she's never taken to anyone like this, she's usually afraid of other people." juliana smiled.

"i love her, she's such a sweetheart." maya ended up running off to her dad who was walking to them.

later that day maya did go swimming with them but grew sleepy at around seven. rowan wrapped the two in a towel and walked them to mayas campsite, sitting her with her dad.

"she said she wanted to come back, i think she's sleepy." juliana smiled warmly, waving at maya before walking back to the lake.

"you know.." rowan started while swimming to jules.

"what." she chuckled softly, accepting being pulled into his arms.

"this remind me of back home." he kissed her cheek softly.

"yeah, i kinda miss it." she hummed. he hugged onto her tighter, rubbing her back.

"we could start heading back.. go down to texas and head back home, maybe make a few more stops." juliana nodded softly and laid her head on rowan's shoulder, watching as the sun set.

"should we get going to the showers?" he said as he noticed how sleepy she seemed.

"mhm." rowan walked back to the truck and got them a change of clothes as well as their shower things while continuing to let juliana cling onto him. the showers were simple just shower heads in closed by a few wood walls. it was pretty open but still gave you enough privacy to feel comfortable using them. rowan usually finished showering before juliana but he still waited right besides her shower, making small talk about where else they would stop before going home.

"can you hold this." she asked while handing him her towel and bag of soap, shampoo and conditioner. she smiled and pressed a kiss to his cheek, pulling on her underwear and pajamas. after a few minutes they walked back to the truck and got settled for bed. rowan packed their things back into their suitcase while jules laid down, pulling the blankets over her shoulders.

"hey babe?" she said while looking through the back. window of his truck.

"yes princess." he smiled up at her.

"could you grab my book from the front please?" she asked and he nodded, closing the passenger doors and grabbed her book for her. he sat in the bed of the truck and kicked off his shoes, scooting back to be sat by juliana.

"you enjoying your book so far." he asked while laying down on her thighs. she nodded and placed her free hand into his dark hair. pretty quickly he fell asleep, cuddled into her while she softly ran her nails against the skin of his back.

as her eyelids grew heavy she slipped her bookmark between the pages and sat it besides her pillow, scooting down into his hold. immediately he readjusted to hold her body, pressing a kiss to her chest before drifting back off. she got lost in him, in his features, she was in love with this man.

"god i love you." she muttered softly, kissing his lips before pulling the blankets over them more and drifting off with him.
